Laffy and turk have both said the only real thing to a wing switch is adjusting to transitioning out of the d zone and breakouts bc in the o zone everyone is everywhere. Maybe it is just as simple as he isn't comfortable on his backhand transitioning off the wall. Laffy has never really looked great making plays off his backhand, so maybe that's it. I mean why is this all about laffy changing sides, why isn't it either of our 30 year old well experienced wingers just switching sides to make this work. Is kreiders game going to suffer horribly on the rw? This whole which wing is each guy playing is getting blown out of proportion. Truthfully with as bad as the top 2 lines are 5v5 maybe we should all just be hoping they keep the kid line together so the they don't get pulled into the sloppy turnover based 5v5 hockey those lines tend to play

Isn’t Kreider the same guy who led the team in even strength goals last year?
Theres a false narrative that Kreider doesn't produce at Even-Strength. HE was by far our best forward in all facets last year.... even with the fancy stats to back it up

I would be interested in seeing a split on those though. I wonder how many came from the right side. How many net front? I like Kreider on the right tbh because I think he could utilize his speed coming down the right wall and start using his under rated shot more often.

he worked on that "all" summer... all being a general term since it was a pretty short offseason.

When he was drafted, I thought he had an amazing backhand ability.... still haven't seen it.. He had Crosby-esque type of looks or I'm just misremembering

He had 26 goals on the pp. Whether he is on the right or left side even strength isn't gonna effect his totals as much as it would help the team ice a better roster. A lot of his even strength goals were tip ins as well, being on one side or the other doesnt matter. He's a vet, already has his long term contract, i dont understand why they might expect Lafreniere to move over instead.

The move kreider over.

"The last three years, I used to go home after practice and be alone," he told lohud.com, part of the USA TODAY Network, following Friday's practice at the MSG Training Center. "It’s different this year."

This is a familiar refrain we are hearing again and again and again and the Rangers are failing on this front. There's no other way to say it.

They should be organizing these kids day to day schedules like they are 16. Because they basically still are.

Handlers should be putting together after-practice film study, then dinner out, then a trip to the bowling alley or some shit. Video game NHL 2022 tournament in the players lounge. Going out to see a movie. Even the elder statesmen on this team are like 26, they aren't all married with kids and after hours obligations. Coworker networking should be part of the job description.

5 days out of the week at least they should have assignments with handlers following up on them, until bedtime. It should be like training camp all year for these kids.

What is this team doing? You are letting a prized asset go home and lose focus or lose his way or feel depressed? They should have a specially assigned developmental coach following up with every one of these un-plugged in new players no less often than once every twenty four hours to get them doing something social and active so they remained focused.

Frankly, the NY Rangers should own some sort of compound or apartment block that they can offer to all their new players to stay in and be around other players.

I volunteer for the job, hire me, for $200k a year I will manage all this shit from top to bottom.
There was a guy who used to post around here who used to say there was a feeling around the team that the younger guys were treated just as assets. He might have been onto something....

I think Kakko can do better on the top line than Laf. No reason for Laf not to be on the second line if the kid line is getting broken up. Ease VK into the NHL by putting him on the third line. Although, I'm not sure these new lines are the ones we'll see opening night. These are the lines GG said were influenced by management. GG will have final say once the regular season starts. They are just getting one last different look.

Jordan Martinook is a very interesting name on waivers for bottom six. Amazing locker room guy and brings a ton of jam.

If they need a 6LHD it’s Soucy for me. Like Maatta there too but doubt he is available until the deadline.
All things being equal, Martinook would be a heck of a pickup. The problem is his $1.8MM ticket. I’m pretty sure someone will pick him up.

Same issue with Soucy. $2.75MM price tag.

i wonder what happens with Hunt and Gauthier. I’d trade Gauthier for Kostin if his value is that low now.

id love Martinook. And to think Reaves cap hit is 1.75

Malik was serviceable as a second pair guy but he wasn't a great 5v5 guy. His prime years were before cf and such was really tracked but even in his last nyr season when he was a plus 7 with a cf of 47.1. I just don't care for plus minus at all as a stat. Didn't care at all about him not using his size, some smaller guys are wrecking balls and some bigger guys just utilize the size and reach. I just don't think he was ever a player that was a great 5v5 player regardless of his plus minus. That's where this started, with someone saying panarin isn't bad 5v5 bc he is a plus player. If you have eyes you know panarin has not been good 5v5 at all the last year.

When I saw martiniook going on waivers I was very interested but how the hell can they sneak that 1.8 hit in right now?
There is a way but it will never happen.

How about instead of picking up a fourth 7th defenseman, Drury picks up a f***ing right winger instead?

Klim Kostin. Get a buddy for Kravtsov. I wont be shocked if he is claimed by someone.

RW and drafted as a Center. adds size grit has potential former 1st round and only 23 same draft as Chytil. Kostin knows Kravtsov from their World Juniors days? Pierre McGuire please chime in lol

Claim Kostin waive Gauthier and Hunt please

Get It done Drury

The upside to this is I can pretend he was part of the Buch trade which would make me hate it slightly less.

When Rangers star wing Artemi Panarin was playing in the Kontinental Hockey League and working his way to the NHL, he looked to Danil Markov — a fellow Russian who had nine years of NHL experience — when the two crossed paths for three seasons with the Chekhov Vityaz.
Markov, who played defense for the Maple Leafs, Coyotes, Hurricanes, Flyers, Predators and Red Wings, took a liking to Panarin. The since-retired blueliner pushed him, Panarin recalls, but it worked. So when Vitali Kravtsov returned to the Rangers’ scene this training camp looking to get back on track after refusing an AHL assignment last season, Panarin took it upon himself to pay the mentoring forward to his fellow countryman.

“I think he’s ready to work right now, two years ago, not really, he was still playing kids hockey,” Panarin told The Post after practice on Friday. “Right now, he understands everything. Sometimes, for me, it’s hard — like when you lose your confidence. Look at last playoffs, the last few games, the last few games I lost confidence. But for a young guy, it’s tough. He’s a strong man. Mentally, he is strong.”

The two Russians have often been the first players on the ice throughout training camp, engaging in their own private warm-up drills or just chatting. Sometimes they’ll go off to the side during team skates, and Panarin will point out a thing or two to Kravtsov, who seems to hang on to every word the veteran says.

It appears natural for Panarin and Kravtsov to relate to one another. Not only are they both wingers, but also they both spent part of their early hockey years in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Panarin even said he sees some of his own tendencies in Kravtsov, such as how he focuses more on the pass than the shot.
The main focus for Kravtsov, Panarin believes, should be on gaining confidence. So Kravtsov is making a point to stay off social media.
“He told me to,” Kravtsov told The Post.
This training camp has been important for Kravtsov, who fled home to Russia after failing to crack the opening-night roster last season. It has been about proving his commitment to the Rangers, which he showed through his early arrival in New York this summer to get a head start on training. The effort has no doubt been there, but it hasn’t produced any eye-catching results on the ice just yet.

Kravtsov spent the beginning of camp skating on the second line with Panarin and Vincent Trocheck. During the past few days, however, Kravtsov has been relegated to the fifth line, with players on the roster bubble such as Dryden Hunt and Julien Gauthier. Still, the likelihood of Kravtsov getting time on that second unit once the season officially starts on Tuesday is high.

Under the pressures of the flat cap, the Rangers need Kravtsov to work out. Panarin taking Kravtsov under his wing is just an added bonus.
“Every time when I go in the locker room, he’s like, ‘Hey, you have to be in the gym,’” Kravtsov said of Panarin with a laugh. “I like it. He’s making me stronger every day.”
The 22-year-old Kravtsov feels he has grown up a bit. All the little things he is doing to show he’s all in aren’t just to impress Rangers management, it’s for himself. Kravtsov said he isn’t happy with his play so far this preseason, during which he has recorded just one assist.

Maybe it’s just taking some extra time for Kravtsov to get acclimated. Maybe something will click and his confidence will benefit. Maybe he just needs more time with Panarin.

“He has such talent, a lot of talent, probably more than me,” Panarin said with a smile. ”But you have to work hard, like [he’s doing] this year, he did everything he can. He’s a great player. He needs to build confidence. Everyone knows his situation, it’s never easy to come and try again.”

Fabbri didn’t fit in with Berube so they gave him away for nothing. Berube wasn’t happy with Kostin’s camp, maybe we can pick him up.

He does fit a need. And upgrade from Hunt and Gauthier. RW sandpaper plays north south physical game. 23 years old 6’3 220. i hope he makes it to the Rangers. This would be a good move.

I'd do Martinook at 50% retained for a 2024 4th and a fringe prospect like Skinner.

Kostin always intrigued me. I haven't watched a lot of Blues recently but wasn't his skating not great which is why he hasn't really been noticeable?

POJ over Hajek is a no brainer.

If Kravstov is going to start the season as an extra, why not try something like?

Kreider-Ziba-Panarin (load up)
Kid Line (they play a lot like the Pack Line from 2010-2012 just they're all younger with more upside)
Goodrow-Trochek-Blais (shutdown line like the Devils used to have in the mid-90s)
Reaves-Carpenter-Vesey (not an ideal 4th line and Martinook in for Reaves makes it a little more balanced).

Kravstov bulks up and works his behind off to get in ASAP.

He does go to the net and agitates and is RW/C. Adds size. I think his skating for his size is pretty good enough to be a 4th liner. he is not Brian Boyle but even he worked on his skating.

It's amazing how much success we had last year in spite of the incompetence of this organization from the top down

Oh please if you replaced Kravtsov with Kakko in this article you would have been shitting all over Kakko.

Vitali could have easily made himself more available. If anything this reflects poorly on Panarin who I was told would be a great mentor for all the young Russians before he was signed.

Kostin, Hook, POJ all better options then Goat, Hunt, Hajek.

I can see Kostin being grabbed by the Yotes maybe even Hook they need players bad.

Kostin is a guy I've liked for a while remind me of when we traded for Goat I thought if this guy puts it together it's a hell of a steal--now some years later we all still waiting for Goat to put it together.

Highly doubt Kostin makes it through waivers, but I'd be willing to deal Goat and low pick for Kostin. Big guy for big guy whom both haven't reached the potential.

Don't think we can grab Hook without someone taking Goat and Hunt off our hands.
