(Gallant scratches Kakko in favor of Dryden Hunt in an elimination game, and predictably the Rangers get wiped out of the playoffs)

“If this guy continues to screw over the kids and doesn’t increase their responsibilities, I’m done with him! I can’t put up with this anymore!”

(Gallant puts Jimmy Vesey on the top line and Vinny Trocheck on PP1 with the kids on the 3rd line Opening Night)

“Ah well, this makes complete sense if you understand how the summer solstice went and how the full moon aligns with Jupiter this time of year. Let’s wait until the Trade Deadline to rush to any judgements!”

I mean we can all predict what will happen with Vesey. He'll put up 5 goals over a very short stretch and then Gallant will staple him to that line for another 50 games. His point total will be like 15-20 by the end of the year. I like Vesey on this team, but he should be on the 3rd/4th line.

The only way these 1RW shenanigans make any sense whatsoever is if trading for Patrick Kane at the TDL is already a foregone conclusion. Because that’s the position you’re putting the team in by making that decision.

And if you do that and then a top 4 defenseman gets injured, you’re basically cooked.

I’d much rather give either Kakko or Laf a shot until the TDL. If they excel, you may not need a 1RW at the deadline and instead have some flexibility with potential other moves being made.

But you’re pigeon holing yourself into what you need to do at the Deadline by keeping the Kid Line intact. It has to be a move for a 1RW.

LOL. Not a single game has been played yet.

Vesey has earned the right to be given a chance. I wonder when they’ll announce a signing or a trade. I would think one of Hunt and Gauhtier are traded. Doubt Rangers would risk losing both for nothing. I would think Rydahl gets one more game to see if he will stick. Sadly once Carpenter takes a stupid penalty that cost the Rangers, he should be benched or waived and hopefully won’t be given slack. Useless signing.

Vesey has an excellent camp and is rewarded with a shot on a scoring line: intolerable.

Kravtsov is gifted a scoring line role and responds with gliding and terrible PP work: all is right with the world.

Make it make sense.
One of them has unproven offensive upside that, if developed, could truly put our scoring depth over the top when competing against other top teams.

The other has already proven to have a severe lack of offensive upside based on his disappointing NHL career, thus far.

This isn’t difficult to understand at all.

That would make the team's scoring depth worse, not better.

You are what you consistently do.

Vesey had an excellent camp? What? lol.
He had a good enough camp to solidify his spot on our 4th line and PK. Absolutely. He can be a really, really effective bottom line player.

I’d also be okay with him moving up the lineup in spot duty in emergency situations.

But el oh el at thinking it’s a good decision to play him in the top 6 in a default situation.

Wow, who could have possibly predicted this? Oh that’s right, I did.

Yeah, like who the top lines RW is
Blais and Goodrow are not in game form and two of the other three lines seem pretty set. No reason to get worked up here. Vesey is there because no one else is ready.

Kane trade starting to seem inevitable though isn’t it.

Not if someone like Vesey actually drags down his line mates, which is a very real possibility.

Like Dryden Hunt did for long stretches in the top 6 last season.

40 lines played at least 200 minutes scoring at least 3 goals/60 last year

Those lines included players like Michael Bunting, Ryan Hartman, Travis Boyd, Jesper Fast, Marcus Foligno, Trevor Moore, Alex Barabanov, Motte/Lammiko/Highmore, Trent Frederic. Playing random guys on these lines is extremely common and often effective.
