Would we rather have Hajek or Juolevi? Or Valimaki?
Would rather have Hajek. Would keep the guy we know. No one out there is outright better.

Would be curious about trying to get Soucy and one of their rental RWs out of Seattle. Contract/cap Situation might make it weird but they have some rental guys that could make sense. Like is there a Soucy/Donskoi combo deal that makes sense if they aren’t happy with Jones at 3LD and whatever the hell they are doing at RW.

Also like the idea of a Maatta/Sundqvist package from Detroit but probably have to wait until closer to the deadline. Few other ideas floating around but those were the non-obvious standouts to me for now

The thing about the Isles is that I felt they were so well built for a Trotz style, but hes not there anymore. I dont follow them as closely and I dont know what their system will be going forward. But they still have a lot of good pieces and I'll never count out a team Lou GMs for. He finds a way, even though he is getting very long in the tooth

Isles could make the playoffs but they aren’t better than Carolina or Pittsburgh. This model obviously loves Sorokin
I think all of these models suck. Any one of us could predict the standings and be just as accurate as them, if not more so.

Lambert is a Trotz disciple. I imagine his system will be very similar.

Sundqvist is a real gamble after his health issues.

One of our excess forwards for POJ would be a good move. I think he could be a good player. But, of course, what happens with our own situation with Jones and Hajek. Though if the team isn't against having our 7th D be a 24 year old Hajek, having a 23 POJ isnt that much different.

Sure. I mean you are going to have to gamble on a guy with the Rangers cap status the way it is. That’s kind of why I like the idea of trying to plug a couple of holes with a rental. Also don’t want to go crazy to prohibit the (rightfully or wrongfully) inevitable Pat Kane pursuit.

Head coach Lane Lambert, assistant coach under Trotz, is a Trotz disciple. Had been with him since Trotz's days in DC. Stylistically I don't think they'll change much.

Edit: Goddammit, @GAGLine

You can't rent anywhere any longer for $1500 a month.

Some teams are going to want to move a contract to take Gauthier or Hunt. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rangers take back a career minor league (under $1MM) who can be buried in the ECHL or AHL and a draft pick for either of these players.
With Blais making almost double Gauthier....and factor in the health of Blais.....who knows ? Drury might keep Gauthier and save 700 Grand for the deadline ? Blais really does not bring that much more to the table overall . The 700 ,000 saved might do us more good and finally give us a good long look of Gauthier before the deadline . Maybe just maybe he becomes everything we seek on that wing . He might not score that much but he is pretty hard to stop when he goes to the net and drags two defensemen with him , Imagine him and Kreider both on the same line doing that ? It will be interesting to see how it unfolds .

Gauthier has had that shot here and hasn't been able to earn the coaches trust or belief that he's anything more than a guy who can't score at the NHL level but isn't a good bottom six player

“The important thing is bringing in a righty for a righty,” net-front presence extraordinaire Kreider told The Post following Monday’s practice at this Rhode Island outpost. “A lefty [replacing Strome] would change the element and the dynamic.

“The guy in the middle has to be a shot threat. If we had a lefty there, we’d have to run everything off the other side.”

NOW WE CAN DIE IN PEACE!!!
