I think come December, we will see something like:

1A = Laf - Chytil - Kakko
1B = Panarin - Trochek - Krav
Matchup line = Kreider - Mika - Vesey
B(R)angers = Blais - Goodrow - 2 of Reaves/Gauthier/Rydahl/Carpenter/Hunt

Adding Kane to this group will be irresistible for sinister Old Dark Slather
Add him and another good Depth D and we might make noise. We also might fall flat on our noses. Cheers (06:08 here right now)!

What the Rangers should do: Cut Carpenter, Gauthier, Hunt and Brodz (They should keep 13 forwards at the start to Bank as much cap as possible for thr TDL) for the forwards. Cut Bartkowski and Tinordi for the D and Dominique out of the goalies.

What the Rangers will do: They will cut/not sign Rydahl and Vesey in lieu of Hunt and Carpenter.
 
Frankly I don’t see how Vesey doesn’t get signed and he deserves it

I think Hunt might get waived and he’ll get claimed which would suck

Again the correct move here is get rid of Reaves but we know that won’t happen so this is what we’re stuck with

IDK, I think Gauthier and Carpenter are the casualties here. Reaves swapping in and out.

Goodrow is missing but it might come down to the Rangers weighing depth vs maximizing how much cap space they have at the TDL (IE keeping 14 forwards vs 13).

In thay scenario you only waive Brodz and Gauthier which I highly doubt either would get claimed.

Based on Cap Friendly the Rangers have a hair over $1MM in cap space for a 22 player roster which includes Gauthier and doesn't include Rydahl and Vesey. Gauthier makes $800K, and if the Rangers sign Vesey he'll likely get a 1 year deal at that dollar amount which would wash if Gauthier is waived.

If you have Rydahl and don't waive one of Carpenter or Hunt (keeping a 23 player roster) you are looking at just $250K in cap space which I don't think rhe Rangers do.

They'd go from a projected ~$4.5MM in deadline cap space to ~$1.5MM.

Yes you’re missing Goodrow. And Carpenter is a Gallant guy, there’s no way he’s getting cut imo
 
It comes down to Carp vs Rydahl and Vesey vs Hunt. Gauthier will be sent down and 50/50 claimed as will Brodz (who has proven to be serviceable). Reeves is the 13 and resident cheerleader and Wilson whisperer. They aren’t carrying 14 past a few days if that.

Even though outperforming Carp, Rydahl will be sent down and be a 1st call up because he is waiver ineligible and GGs familiarity with Carp.

Vesey vs Hunt is interesting. Both have warts and are very replaceable but are fine for 4th line duty. Vesey has done well enough for a contract and a spot but are they willing to potentially lose depth sending Hunt through waivers and burn a contract slot to sign Vesey? I don’t think that there’s enough difference between the two to do this (maybe on PK?) but my guess is that team brass will sign him. So you have Goodrow - Carpenter - Vesey as your 4th line to open the season.

It’s not but the Kid Line looks good and I suspect the coaching staff wants to keep them together. So it’s basically Kravtsov and Goodrow/Blais in the top six until the deadline.
