I'd be slightly more concerned about waiving a decent goalie as Arizona needs one.
They claimed Jonas Johansson today. He has a 350K minor league salary. I don't think Arizona intends to pay anyone on their minor league team 350K.

With Jason Robertson holding out and no sign of a contract in sight I wonder if Dallas would revisit the Kreider for Robertson and a 2nd deal they had on the table a couple of years back.
I think the (totally real) trade was actually Robertson and a 1st.

I did not catch up to the league moves since waiver claims, thanks.

Domingue has to go through waivers? I don’t think he gets claimed unless a team needs some backup depth in the AHL level
Yes, yet I don't think the odds of him being picked up are good either.

The biggest thing, the player any team claims is being planned on being on their NHL roster, yet given the goalie market sucks, I would still give him being plucked better odds than someone like Carpenter based on position alone.

Better for the player if long term contract can start a year earlier.
Right. I’d think the player would want either one year or a long term deal. The team would want to try to get a two or three year bridge rather than one. Is that the thinking? Quite possible they end up on just one year but I’m just trying to understand both sides thinking.

Vesey is gonna make the team and hes a valuable 4th liner

Id prefer rydahl over carp but could see them starting with carp due to waiver exemption of rydahl

How is Rydahl exempt, he is a pro, he was a pro in the swedish leagues? I think once a pro at a certain amount of pro seasons regardless of overseas or not, you go through waivers

Today’s selection is dealers choice.

Think I might prefer Gauthier to Blais with Kreider and Mika.

I think it's too early to get good read on that.

Rangers have several players who could breakout, or not.

The cap, we don't know if they (NHL and PA) are going to stagger a projected muti year increase in next year, or leave it at the 1M increase, and have a bigger jump after they fully pay off their half of lost revenue. Depending on how that goes, it changes the dynamic.

I think, as a rookie, never has played/signed in the NHL prior, even though he is older, he must sign an entry level contract, and all entry level contracts are waiver exempt.

Legit question: Would Carpenter get claimed if waived? it's 50/50 I think.
Carpenter — Slim to no chance he gets claimed

Domingue — probably not, two year contract, bottom feeders wouldn’t be interested at that price

Hunt 50/50, he may get traded

Gauthier? Who cares

Here's the table from the CBA for waivers:

Based on that he should be exempt for this season. Other relevant info:

So because he's never been on an SPC before and loaned back to Europe, those professional seasons don't count for waiver purposes

Here is the flip side of the whole "Ryhdal is exempt from waivers so he'll get sent down". If management truly feels he is better then Carpenter (which he has shown in spades the 3 preseason games he's played in), he will make the team. The reason being he will be a ufa after this season. If he is as good as he's shown so far, Rangers can't risk having a player of his caliber walk after this season to keep a player like Carpenter, who in all likelihood won't get claimed.

Over/Under how many times this season Gauthier drives the net but forgets he has the puck or a stick, doesn't shoot, and just runs the goaltender?

Typically it's at least once per game, he's already done it at least twice this pre-season.

100% And hopefully the Rangers are smart enough to make the obvious decision.

Gauthier is a donezo. Gallant didn’t use him last year, he won’t this year, and I don’t blame him. Not enough jam or defensive awareness for bottom 6 and he can’t finish on a scoring line. Cut the bait.

Vesey has earned a spot. Weird to see it but he can be an effective depth forward and can score.

Carpenter is still the 4th line C. I’d be surprised if this changed.

Rydahl looks good but he’s still an unknown. I think they still keep hunt since Gallant loves him

We’ve made that mistake before. I’m not convinced that we’ve learned as an org and won’t do it again.
