No it’s not. It’s our word.

See: Thread title in Carolina ECF board

Caps board:

Etc..

It's not our word for the Rangers. Not at all.

Neither is "Rags" if you're paying attention.

Sadly the board's search function only goes back to 2020, but a quick search shows that by far the most uses of the term "Rongo' are from the NYR forum, where it's mostly used as a term of frustration to describe the Rangers when we aren't playing well, are making the same mistakes over and over, or we're making a draft pick people don't like...

The only other place it shows up with frequency is the Hurricanes board where I guess you can assume it's an insult, and most of that was from the the 2020 playoffs.

I certainly mainly associate it with HFNYR and an expression we use when talking about the 'bad' Rangers traits.

The Canes board used to do a fantasy draft when they would miss the playoffs. Posters would get assigned to a playoff team to bandwagon for. One of their posters was assigned here around the time we used to say Rongos pretty often and picked it up out of habit. Probably just brought it back to their board.

We could ya know just put Hajek on waivers and hope he makes it through to create more breathing room. If he gets claimed then so be it. Or trade him for a mid-late pick.
I think we can’t really afford to lose him. Ideally he’d be playing a lot in Hartford but they can’t really risk waivers. It would be great to trade him for a waivers-ineligible guy of similar talent but those guys are worth their weight in gold.

Was anyone really happy with the trade? I mean other than St. Louis.

The above is not exactly a revolutionary viewpoint. :)
Being unhappy about it is fine. But do people here actually believe that Drury had an array of better deals at hand?
Or that there was a realistic path to keeping Buch?
Complaining about trading Kelly Miller and Mike Ridley is more sensible at this point. They could have kept those guys, at least. Buch was going and they did the best they could within reason.

ROR is really enticing if St. Louis needs to sell. Ill let the pros figure out how the money works out but that's the type of 3rd line C that can play with Chytil and shut down the opposing top line so Mika is free to play his game.
Chytil would likely be part of that deal I suppose. Chytil. A pick. And a salary? Do the rangers even have a salary to match?

I don't think so. It'd may take another nice piece to go along with Kravtsov+1st.

They were talking about getting rid of him last season too. Playoffs changed opinions. He's back to regular season ROR again

Maybe Kravtsov gets it done. But I also think the rangers would see it as liquidating Chytil who’ll be due a decent-sized contract soon. Sell high. VK will be cheap and undervalued still. A sell-low.
Just realized O’Reilly is an expiring so quite possibly Chytil for him straight up could work. Though they would have to figure out the salary part…

Chytil is borderline core piece he’s not going for a rental

I think Filip is approaching his ceiling and if another team offers me a stud like O’Reilly - leaving out the cap - I probably do it.
You may be right, he might be considered a core piece. But while I like him, I would sell high.

I think the path has been chosen already. Laffy and KAM will get 2-3 year bridges. Chytil may get a decent size deal... thinking 3-5 years around $4ishM... he'll always have value and is moveable if need be. I'm confident Drury keeps all young pieces.

Keep this team intact for the next 3 or so years. This is the cup team. Cut the dead weight. Get dead cap back. Try to find value in the bottom6 that fit the mold of 2022 hockey. With the kids improving, we get that much better year over year... as long as the Vets do not shit the bed

Rongos was originated by posters on this board all the way back in like 2014. It’s never been an insult.
I think it started with the doge meme. There's the Rangers (the muscular dog) and then there's Rongos (the wimpy odd ball dog). I could be wrong.

Nothing beats Oli Jokinen and Turkey Girl, though. Greatest memes of all time.

A year ago I was all for trading Chytil. The kid had big time growth physically and mentally since then. I wouldn't trade him, because realistically nothing I'd want for him we could get. He should be a core piece. He could/would/probably will push Trocheck out of that 2nd line center spot eventually. Chytil has so much potential.

It's a case of can he stay healthy? We all want to see him succeed here and be a core piece but he's been injured essentially every year as a pro.

Some guys grow out of that (Jesper Fast is a good example) and some guys just miss 10-15 games every year and teams live with it. How do they see him?
