We could ya know just put Hajek on waivers and hope he makes it through to create more breathing room. If he gets claimed then so be it. Or trade him for a mid-late pick.

The dream is still alive, don't give up hope on Patty Kane.

At this point with how good Kakko looks and I don't think Lafreniere has earned a demotion there's not much of an impetus to even add someone of Kane's stature and perhaps it will stay like that. I'd still like to add another forward with skill if possible though to play with Chytil.

I do not think we need Kane.

We need strong bottom6 players. A Lehkonen type to play with Chytil.

but things can change fast with injuries

Adding skill to play w Chytil could be great, but the point of Kane specifically is to play w Panarin theoretically.
I’d love someone who’s got skill and 2 way play, but that’s not a cheap add.

agree. We need some help right now for that bottom 6. I honestly don't think the 4th line will score any goals until probably Jan or Feb. You can't go 10-15 games with basically zero help from your bottom 6. Yes I know when Chytil comes back our third line becomes respectable but still need a decent addition like we did with Motte and Vatrano.

Not in terms of prospects but right now the Rangers are going to have to go searching for someone who's on a cheap contract. If everyone stays healthy then maybe they could squeeze Kane or someone like him in.

If we are going big fish hunting... I'm in the RO'R train. I'd much rather trade for him than P.Kane.
I just noticed he's a minus 11 and only has one point? Holy crap what is going on in St. Louis? Love ROR but really haven't seen much of him this season. Is he washed up? He's only 31. This is his final season so if the Blues somehow are out of it and would trade him in Feb/March not sure what the return needs to be?

Kreider Zibs Kakko
Panarin Tro Laffy
Goodrow RO'R Chytil
Vesey Carpenter Gauthier/Blais

Same thing happened last season until the postseason...

That bulldog of a player is still there.

Where is the end game here though?

Until the next deal you don't like?

Why stop at Buchnevich?

Why does there have to be an end game? When people stop caring about the issue they'll stop talking about it. It's still relatively fresh all things considered.

So, you want to beat that horse into glue?

I don't consider talking about it a little over a year later as beating it into glue. Its still having a pretty direct effect on us and it was one of the most monumental transactions of this era of Rangers hockey. Why is there a time limit on it? We continue to look back fondly on, and laud, the Zibanejad for Brassard trade and hold it up as an example to emulate. We should continue to hold up the Buch trade as an example to avoid forever, frankly.

What's the opposite implication? Moratorium on any value discussion of trades a week after they are complete?

Certainly a season ofter it happened. Should still be discussing the Park trade, Middleton? When is the sell by date?

I literally just answered that. There is no sell by date. Relevance to the people discussing it. It's the most momentous trade of this particular generation. The last trades of that magnitude was the Brassard for Zibanejad trade, the McDonagh and Miller for Hajek and Namestnikov trade, and the Nash for Anisimov/Dubinski trades. They SHOULD get talked about for years.

A little over a year and there is no need to be telling people to be quiet about it. Still relevant.

If you want to talk about the Park trade go ahead. I doubt it will get a single response because no one will care. There's your proof of when is too long.

The Buch trade discussion gets a ton of response because everyone still cares and hates it hence why they like to talk about it. Which is why you don't like it being discussed, because of all the negativity about it.

The Rangers are shaping up to barely have enough cap space to add depth players like they did last year with Braun, Motte, and Vatrano. There's essentially no way they're going to be able to add someone like Kane or O'Reilly at the deadline with how things look right now.

It's looking like this team wont have such a glaring need for it like last year's clearly did. I think theyd have no problem moving Blais' contract, especially if Gauthier continues to show that hes already 90% of Sammy's skillset.

Im also sure the team will have no problem working some LTIR shenanigans if a guy gets injured and wont be ready until the playoffs.

Yeah, I don't want to get ahead of myself because things will obviously change, but I like their top-6 A LOT this year to start. I still think another 3C/W option would help a lot for injuries and to help balance the lines a bit. The most important thing is really just making sure they're mostly healthy at the end of the year

ROR is really enticing if St. Louis needs to sell. Ill let the pros figure out how the money works out but that's the type of 3rd line C that can play with Chytil and shut down the opposing top line so Mika is free to play his game.

Most of the replies are “stop already”. It accomplishes nothing an is more annoying than anything. But keep beating that horse

The team also does not miss Buchnevich at all. It might be different if we had a glaring need for high paid scoring winger but we quite obviously dont. He wouldnt even be on the top powerplay if he was still here

Buchnevich, just what we need. Another guy who can't stay healthy and has never played a full season in his life.

He'd score around 50 points in a top six/PP2 role and 80% of the board would complain that he was blocking Kakko/Laf from top six time.
