With the way things are going we wont need cap space. We are in the toughest division in hockey. The wasted points against teams we should beat are crippling. Might be on the outside by December and in the Metro, that means you might as well be winless.

It is imperative they keep pace at a minimum by December.
Most people have a hard time seeing past slumps, and think it won't get better. That is human nature. It WILL get better, this isn't a bottom of the barrel team. The problem is that is has to get better immediately or else we will be a "good" team that doesn't make the playoffs. That is unacceptable if that happens.

I think at this point NYR should move on from Blais. Trade him for a mid pick to a team like Ott/Wild/Jets(team with some space and he might be more useful there). NYR could really use the extra cap space for the deadline and it would allow them to carry 14 F with all these d2d injuries.

Apropos of nothing, I think Vesey, Gauthier, and Goodrow would make for a pretty good 4th line.

I don’t really see any reason why blais shouldn’t be on the team? He’s better 3rd 4th liner than anyone else we have. He’s playing on the third and not killing us. He’s not bad defensively. He’s also still a year out from his acl surgery. He’s still not entirely 100% yet, and needs more game time.

I don't GAF about cap space for the deadline right now. This team can't penny pinch on its depth, we need to win enough games for half the season before worrying about a trade deadline months away. Halak is awful.

Of course we’re obsessed with the deadline. It’s the only chance of taking this team to another level when it matters most.

And if Gallant can’t get us there with a 21 man roster staying in playoff position, we have much, much bigger problems.

Games aren't won or lost by 3rd and 4th line players when you don't score any goals at all. The top two lines got the yips, bad, with the exception of Panarin. Kakko not being able to finish is starting to make me feel his family was cursed like 1500 years ago by some mountain swamp hag.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think waivers for the first month are based on last year’s standings, so we didn’t have a chance at Bellows. He would’ve been a good depth add. Harpur was signed off his PTO in HFD and is on waivers to get sent down
