Holy shit
According to Moneypuck:Anyone got the advanced stats for our lines in the first 3 games?
TDL acquisitions are a huge part of why the Rangers got where they were last season, failed attempt or not.No, but they could help continue to fuel the jet deep into the late 2020's and into the 2030's
TDL acquisitions rarely, if ever, push a team over the top.
We just wasted a 1st for a failed attempt.
Not interested in doing that again.
If they don't win in the next 2 or 4 years then the rebuild has effectively failed. 2 to 4 years is the window. Every team has a window, it doesn't continue on forever. Everything is cyclical. If you can win 1 in that window take it and run. That's more than most teams can ask for.Okay, yet what if they do not win a championship in the next 2 or 4 years? Wouldn't it be a good thing to have a new set of players coming up who maybe could help the youth they have now, who will be older then, maybe win one? Or are they just going to sell off mostly everything and rebuild again? Or will they just retool for the next decade or four decades and not win any championships?
Larry is upset. The Rangers could be facing this situation tomorrow if Carpenter is out and Blais isn’t ready. Gallant said Blais didn’t play on Friday because they wanted to give a few more days before returning. Blais at $1,525,000 is hurting the Rangers. The Rangers could have paid two players at $750,000 or a better player who contribute more than Blais. Motte is at $1.35M but Brooks wrote the Rangers and Motte didn’t have contract discussions this summer. Motte wanted $2.5M and the Rangers moved on. They didn’t revisit Motte during the summer when it became apparent Motte wasn’t receiving 4 years and $10M. Brooks had the Information a few weeks ago. NY Post+ article. It was Mickey Mouse Time in Edmonton on Wednesday when the Oilers took the ice one man short, with a 17-plus-two lineup, because of flat cap issues created by COVID-19. And that will not be unique to this club, this time. That is the stuff of garage leagues.
As of Saturday, according to CapFriendly, five teams had zero cap space and another six owned space of less than $250,000, all an injury or two away from calamity. That represents more than a third of the league. Thirteen teams are dipping into long-term injured reserve replenishment.
And the system is going to be under more stress next year, when the cap will increase by only $1 million, as prescribed by the CBA. The system will burst at the seams if not addressed. And there is no reason not to address it immediately. If the league can sell out on uniforms to help owners’ bottom lines, surely it can make adjustments to the CBA that would help teams’ forward and blue lines.
Here’s how: The NHL has projected that the cap will increase approximately $9.5 million, from this year’s $82.5M to $92M in 2025-26. That anticipates a $1M increase next year, a $4M-$4.5M increase the following season, and another $4M-$4.5M increase for 2025-26.
Instead of applying that formula, the league (with advise and consent provided by the PA) should divide the three-year $9.5M increase equally, starting with 2023-24. Thus, a $3.15M increase for each of the next three seasons, which could be adjusted in concert with revenue projections.
Why not? I cannot conceive of a single legitimate argument against issuing this modicum of relief to teams next season. If an owner or two pipes up, the folks on Ninth Avenue can just say that the pandemic made them do it.
After all, it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Good, I'm glad he's upset....the NHL needs to be called out on this bullshit. The league had record levels of revenue last year, the owners aren't hurting. The cap is wage suppression at this point, Covid or no Covid. If Carpenter can't go, Blais will need to play tomorrow night. Kravtsov will be reevaluated this week. The Rangers have 11 healthy forwards.

The NHL and NHLPA would need to have a discussion. Some agents want to see the PA come up with a solution. The Rangers can use the extra $3M next summer instead of just $1M. Nearly every team needs the extra space.
NHL shouldn’t wait to fix looming salary cap disaster — and here’s how it can

The window time is now, not in 2029.
Yes I've been saying for years if you sign your own draft pick to a contract it should count as (for argument's sake) 80% against the cap. Have traded players/prospects and signed FAs count full but teams should not get penalized for home grown talent. The cap itself needs to change. Teams are punished for drafting well and building good teams. Install exceptions into the cap for team's own players. Have them pay with money or draft picks or whatever. Not for anyone signed in FA, but for players the teams have raised as their own.
Except the owners are cheap af. That benefits players heavily.Yes I've been saying for years if you sign your own draft pick to a contract it should count as (for argument's sake) 80% against the cap. That’s just his style, i really don’t expect it to change much. It’s how he stays healthy free for the most part.Is anyone else concerned that bread appears to be playing the same way as the playoffs last year. Pulling up in the neutral zone, sending cross ice pass, which team shut down in the playoffs. He preached that he wanted to be better for the playoffs and wasn’t happy with his game but he’s playing the same exact way right now in the regular season.
Listen I understand he’s putting up points but I was expecting to see him play a little more north south rather then east west after how he critiqued his game going into this season .
Just a observation, wondering how you guys feel
For the most part this is who he is moving forward. He's not a big dude so where he might have played fearless in traffic when he was younger, the Wilson incident unfortunately has altered his mindset & his style of play...& honestly, who could blame him.Is anyone else concerned that bread appears to be playing the same way as the playoffs last year.
