We look like we will have enough firepower offensively. To me the potential weak spot is 2LD Lindgren has proven to be fragile or whatever you want to call his siting out games due to injury. Jones is going to have to give it his all to be 3LD in the playoffs never mind moving up to 2LD......so if Lundy goes down we are screwed...hence I believe we should target a 2LD. Add a Vatrano type for the "Run".

I can’t help but roll my eyes at the just laughable thought of inserting 19 year old Othmann into the lineup going into the playoffs lol

I mean what planet are we living on where anyone thinks that will happen
Don't worry he'll be 20 then.

Same age Kreider was.

Is Kane playing on the Rangers first PP unit? No.

Chris Kreider spoke to Larry Brooks about the righty vs lefty on the PP with Trocheck replacing Strome.

The Rangers are changing their PP set up after the first five months of the season to accommodate Kane?

Where will Kane play? Zibanejad is lined up on the left side and Panarin is lined up on the right side. Kreider is the net front presence. Fox is at the point. The Rangers want a righty playing the bumper. Kane is a lefty.

The power play setup works. Everyone knows what the Rangers are trying to do. The Rangers find a way to execute their PP.
I imagine Panarin would move into the bumper spot and Kane would take the right wall.

We should also wait to see what we actually need. If the team is playing out of its mind for most of the season then we might just need a 3rd line Winger.

EDIT- Is there any way Othmann is available for a playoff run after his season?
Othmann could be available when his team is knocked out of the playoffs. Flint is expected to go deep though.

He could have easily made the team over Kravtsov. If VK has a meh season then why wouldn’t we insert Othmann? He’s exactly what we need and he wouldn’t have the pressure of top 6 minutes/production.

Isn't an easier solution to the Kravtsov situation just to see if Seattle would consider exchanging Shane Wright for him? I think they're beginning to understand why he fell in the draft. He played 6:14 in Seattle's first game. No powerplay time. No shot's on goal. In game two he was a healthy scratch. Clearly there is something the Seattle coaching staff doesn't like about his game. They already have their 1C of the future in Matt Beniers so he's not crucial to their success. He could be a potential replacement for Chytil if we can't afford his next contract.

Taking Lafreniere and/or Kakko out of the top 6 to accommodate Kane would be meme level Rongos.

If Laf and Kakko stick in the top six there's no reason to pay a ransom for a Kane. Just reevaluate how effective the depth is and add depth.
Agreed but with how things are projecting (I know it’s only two games) and already having 2 1sts our best move is to move Kravtsov+ at the deadline for whatever we are lacking. I don’t see any need for him after this season with Othmann coming up.

If he pulls a 180 and forms a great 3rd line next to Chytil then maybe he’s worth keeping around until the offseason.

Here’s a crazy thought. Blues on the bubble and we pry away ROR at the deadline, move Chytil to RW for the rest of the season and playoffs. MONSTER center depth right there.

Im sure they're going to do everything in their power to get him re-signed before that even becomes a thing.

But if not? Sign me up. ROR is so good.

Maybe they can throw in Beniers and their unprotected 1st while we’re at it

What? No he could not have easily made the team lol. They didn’t even give him the 9 games, and he looked awful in the last game he played before the sent him back to Flint.

Idk why people insist on rushing this kid

Had NHL Radio on before and Morgan Frost was giving an interview. He said that the hardest thing regarding " game translation " from junior to pro is NOT "strength, conditioning or speed ".

He said the hardest thing to adjust and learn is "time with the puck".
In other leagues ( junior in his case) you have that full second second and a half, where in the NHL you have half a second, maybe less to make the right play.

You have to be able to make plays in milliseconds.

There is no time or room on NHL ice.

He also spoke about Torts practices. Nobody gets players in better shape that that dude.

I found it an interesting interview.

Let it all out, you’ve been typing essays ranting about him like an unhinged maniac all day every day for a week now
I am unhinged. Maniac, no, they operate without logic.

Operating without logic would be saying Kravtsov is still a top prospect.

So yes, I'm absolutely unhinged, but you my friend are the maniac

That’s how I felt going from Beer League D to Beer League C3

Anyways I digress, if Laf and Kakko continue to play this way we have absolutely no need for Kane. It doesn't make a ton of sense to get him either, as its true he won't play PP1, and likely would bump Laf off 2RW unfortunately or be playing 3rd line which seems like a massive waste of talent.

But if by some miracle Chicago will take Kravtsov and a conditional 2nd for him on condition of Conf Finals, I bite. We complain that when PP1 struggles on occasion, PP2 is just as bad. Kane would help that and make them a more viable option to use.

Also, Chytil and Kane on L3 is a matchup that not many others in league could match. Also, god forbid Laf or Kakko got injured, we could do ALOT worse than Kane stepping up ... like Dryden Hunt worse.

I don't know, having a surplus of scoring players and depth never hurts in Plyoffs when the grind is on, people tweak things, and scoring is tough to come by.

On the flip, it makes it harder to acquire a vet insurance D that isn't Libor Hajek from a cap perspective. that should be just as big of a concern because any injury to top 6 d forcing Hajek into playoff action would be disastrous.

So if Kakko and Laf are that good, and I hope there are cause thats the best scenario for our team this season and beyond, maybe we focus our deadline acquisitions of bolstering bottom 6 and adding d depth.
