Can't the Rangers make a paper move and waive Hajek to free up some space and recall him if he's needed? Unless the Rangers know for sure he'd get claimed don't see why they don't do that.

Is there a rule if you are waived and demoted that you have to start playing with the minor league team after a set number of days?

Or may be after he clears "demote" Hajek on the non game days and recall him on the game days.

I think you're more likely to see Jones or Schneider take turns reporting to the AHL during stretches without a game since they're waiver exempt.

Not 100% on how that works but I know we've done it before with Kakko and others.

I have to give the man credit. I like what GG has done with the lines so far. Starting Kravtsov with the Panarin line, starting Kakko with Mika and Zibanejad and then going right to Laf on RW when Kravtsov went down makes me feel really good.
Yeah, although I think Blais and Kravtsov injuries forced his hand.

I wish I could delete posts and replies that make me look like a dummy.

I think he's actually fun to watch because he moves unlike any goalie in the league.
Yea but his movements are very efficient. He minimizes his movements through his positioning. Unlike Sorokin for example who is constantly moving around and is often out of position when he makes highlight reel saves.

Kreider Mika Lafy
Panarin Trocheck Chytil
Vesey Goodrow Kakko
Blais/Hunt Carpenter Reaves

i would like to see Chytil on the wing again. I feel he would be more productive on the RW spot. He would add more scoring depth on that side. Kakko and Chytil can be flipped. I feel Chytil and or Kakko with Panarin would have chemistry

Kakko and Panarin do not have chemistry. It’s been tried over and over again. They both need puck possession to be successful. Look at how Kakko played last night. He had the puck, he drew penalties. He at times was also in open space but that’s not his primary game.

Copy and pasted from the Vitali Kravtsov player thread because it turned into a Roster Building post:

Krav is our piece with a 1st for a deadline rental so really hope he's back soon to raise his stock so we don't have to add another draft pick.

real talk, I hope the kids alright. He came back with the right attitude and even if things weren't going great for him, you could tell he was trying. Unfortunate injury. Its true, he needs to bulk up, but the talent he has is undeniable. Just not sure if it'll translate to the NHL, atleast in NY.

Othmann outperformed him at camp and I'm convinced he would have taken his roster spot if not for age/contract considerations. Othmann is going no where, put Laf in that category too. If Kakko continues the way hes looking this season, Rangers will be keeping him and his $2M bargain salary and moving out cap to resign him after this contract.

Krav is the logical player that will be moved for the deadline rental. Maybe Blais with him cause hes also a bandaid and would clear $1.5M in cap.

So heres to Krav getting back soon, resurrecting his career for himself, and boosting his stock for the TDL for Rangerstown.

All aboard the #KaneTrain

To CHI: 1st, Krav, Blais, 2nd 2024* (turns into 1st 2024 if we win Cup)
To NYR: Kane (50% retained)

Maybe we have to give ARZ a 3rd this year to retain an extra 25%-50% in a 3-team trade, and lets throw in Hajek to CHI and Gauthier to ARZ too. Then for shits n giggles lets acquire NYR legend Jack Johnson to be a vet 7th D for our playoff run.

To ARZ: 3rd 2023, Julien Gauthier
To CHI: 1st 2023 (NYR), Kravtsov, Hajek, 2nd 2024 (1st 2024 if we win Cup this year with Kane playing 50% playoff games)
To NYR: Kane at about $2.625M (50% CHI, 50% ARZ), Jack Johnson

Kane gets what he wants (if insiders rumors are true), close to home, contender, RW with Panarin. Walks as free agent after Stanley Cup with us, can sign in Buffalo if he so chooses.

Chicago gets a RW with upside, even if theres work to do. Another 1st rounder, potentially 2. And a terrible defenseman.

Arizona gets a 3rd round pick and a guy who is a 6 years removed 1st rounder who can't score, but hey, he was a first rounder so never give up.

NYR gets their rental, hopefully a Cup, and moves the odd prospect out anyways. Othmann outplayed Krav, and I'm convinced would've stolen his spot if not for the ability to go to CHL and Krav needing waivers on his official last chance in NY.
Othmann joins team in 3rd line capacity next year, Kakko and Laf are RW's in top 6. Lindgren probably gone, which is why Rangers would refuse to include Matthew Robertson who is cheap and physically ready to play top 6 in NHL when Lindgren is gone in a cap clearing move to sign extensions of KAM and Laf. Maybe Goodrow is gone too once his NMC changes to NTC but who knows.
Blais can't stay healthy and he likely may end up being a cap casualty too of the KAM and Laf extensions because we have young Will Cuylle who can play the same role for 1/3 of the price. And likely stay healthy long enough to actually PLAY that role.
Also, Jack Johnson, because, Jack Johnson is a Stanley Cup winner last year so we need that veteran depth and experience incase of injury.

This if half satirical and half not because these are our Rangers.

Other than the slick passes he makes I love "boring" Shesterkin is to watch. He's always in such good position that he barely has any highlight reel saves and I love it that way,
Always been his thing.

Before they came over from the KHL, people talked a lot about Sorokin because of the saves he would make, but he was aggressive and put himself in spots where he had to make crazy desperation dives.

Shesterkin was always technical, calm, and cool.

Both are very good, but Sorokin still is working on not over-committing.

Kane would for sure put us over the top but I don’t see how we can afford him and these proposals we are giving up garbage for a guy who is capable putting up 100 points with Panarin and on our PP.

I’d love to make it work but I don’t see it happening.

kane's nmc is gonna limit their return that's just how it is. I think 1st, kravtsov, Blais or whoever for cap isnt too far off

It's early to talk about Kane. I'd want to wait to see how the team gets going. If they can play a good deal of the season like they did last night (maybe a few less penalties), then we're talking.

Wish we would've checked out Kessel in the offseason to play opposite Panarin.
