Zajac is so done.

Edit: I didnt realize that he had actually been super productive recently. Probably a bit of a mirage, but not the awful add I thought it was initially.

I don’t think the Rangers trade Smith unless there is another defenseman coming back.

Here’s a thought...Mark Staal. He’s had a pretty good year and he would help the third pair and the penalty killing. He would also drive a couple of posters here over the edge and we would benefit from them being gone forever!
The hindsight Rangers roster would be pretty interesting

BOS was interested in Hall and Palmieri too, so I'd imagine they'll up their efforts to get Taylor Hall soon. I'm surprised the Devils got a first for Palmieri, but that's smart by them.

If the Rangers can stick to the rebuild i could see a Strome, etc bringing back a lot. That Isles deal strengthens them while the West is won by the Avs if the status quo remains imo.

Rangers should be selling high on Strome.

In addition, you can get some good assets for Strome and sign a short-term stopgap this offseason down the middle. Next year becomes another push/progress year. Krejci comes to mind if Boston wants to go in a different direction. It would take a miracle for the Rangers to catch Boston for the 4th spot. Sell high.

I'd rather the young guys experience a playoff push, however unlikely.

but seriously, I'd like that to be elaborated upon. What's the different message?

No, No, No! David Quinn is the best! He is the brains! He was coaching the entire time! Knoblauch, Murphy, and Drury all wore ear pieces. In fact they had speakers in the benches that had DQ coaching through them.

Lolzzz

I don’t know what a Strome deal would look like. The lesser of the 2 Wild 1st rounders? I’m stumped of what the return would be.

I'd be shocked if they move Strome by Monday.

I'd be even more shocked if they moved Strome for a draft pick.
I dont think they will move Strome, but they should.

On paper he has significantly outperformed Palmieri and Hall. Buffalo wants a 1st and Top prospect for Hall. Rangers should absolutely be making Strome available.

tbh if they want to keep Quinn for 'individual development' and have someone else get the reigns for 'team development'... It could work

Certainly increases the Isles depth. Palmieri has not had a very productive season but this could be a new lease on life for him. Still it’s not the usual for the Islanders to blow you away with offense. They’re a team that’s more than happy to win the 2-1, 3-2 games. Their main strength is their defensive structure and I don’t think this trade changes that. Lou likes to bring in players he knows.

It makes them stronger but I’m not convinced it means a Cup and I’m not convinced it gets them past the Capitals. They’re a team that is probably short of future HOF’ers. What it is is Lou trying to recreate those Devils defensive juggernauts he won a few Cups with—just adding maybe a little extra offense and veteran savvy. It does put pressure on the Pens and Bruins to step up. In the Bruins case I think it would be a big mistake if they did.

With how good Strome has been, no reason to rush him out the door right now. The center position is a weakness in the org. Unless we were packaging Strome for a younger more talented center, I don’t see the point. The org is so stacked at every other position, more draft picks and prospects for Strome seems like a step back.

Really interested to see what Colorado has up their sleeve.

I don't think Hall will return that, but the pedigree matters.

Its like the year we moved Rick Nash. There were better players on the market, but the pedigree paid off. Strome has been very good this year, more so than he was last year but I won't kill the FO if they don't move him over the next 4 days. Some team will be liable to do something stupid after disappointing in the playoffs this year so there will be opportunities to take advantage.

what got the rangers going is the flyers having trash goaltenders...scoring 8/9 goals on 24 shots TWICE has NOTHING to do with what our coaches did or didn't say. its ridiculous that this is still even a thing...

I don't think X's and O's. I think Drury and Knoblauch told them to not think too much. Lightened the mood.

Drury was a case study in performing under pressure. Probably passed on some advice or got them refocused.

It's interesting that this leaked. The team went to painful lengths to downplay the Hartford staff and heap praise on Quinn. Made sure to give him all the credit. Now a different message is getting out.
