I know I'm in the minority but I think Howden can be a valuable asset.

I've seen the flashes from him where I believe he could be a key cog in the bottom6. 30pts bottom 6er that matches up and PKs. He's still only 22. He's improving.
Offensively he's gotten worse every year. He's presently one of the worst offensive players in the league. We can do better.

Is it worth trading a haul for Eichel anymore? Or would you guys rather ride into the next half a decade with Zibanejad and Strome?

He is the only one who can win a face off consistently. If you look at him at 22 year old and he need another 2 years of development to really know what we have .. players just mature more slowly nowadays..
He will be a solid 4th player minimum and if and improve apon his skating and toughness he could a 3rd liner..

I agree he still has more developing to do. He’s got to work hard in the offseason. The thing is, it’s a numbers game. Who stays who goes? We have a lot of kids that need ice time and even more in the pipeline that need a look to see where there at

It’s only worth it if the price doesn’t cripple us and the decision is made that it’s too risky to give Zibby 9 plus mill for several years

Nobody said they couldn't get it wrong, what I'm saying is they like Howden so i wouldn't expect him to be going anywhere. All you have to do is go back to the bubble and how much JD gushed about Howden to know they all like him, whether they are right or wrong in mine or your opinion is irrelevant, they are the guys deciding these things.
Well what I would say is they are definitely getting it wrong with Howden. And as I said previously, the issue is that DQ, and maybe management has some input, but DQ continues to play him. And he plays him situations or points of a game where he should be stapled to the bench. Its frustrating because he is a net negative out there.

having Kravstov play with Chytil and Laf on kid line 2.0 is a recipe for disaster. gonna get dummied bad. kid line was ass and Kakko was the best player. this isn't a video game.

I think they're gonna sit on Kravstov till they trade Buchnevich, fwiw. And then slot him on the 1st line. See what he's got.
This is probably right, unfortunately. This is going to be a tough pill to swallow though depending on the return.

What is the Rangers window for winning? I think the answer to that question is debatable but Buch for futures probably doesn’t align with it.

I can take or leave him, its obvious he isnt a finished product and the jury is out whether he gets there but i do see some things they see in him and it's worth keeping him around to find out if he turns into something that we need. People bring up Brian Boyle all the time, L.A gave up on him much the same way for many of the same reasons around the same time, he really didn't look like much until his 4 th year. The only difference is that Howden has shown more offense the last two years that Boyle did his first 2, and this year in general for most everyone on this team outside of fox and Buch has messed with how people's seasons could have went. This season was always about development and possibly knocking on the playoffs door, it really does nothing to this franchise to wait it out on Howden because the cap hit is low and the trade value is too, much like Boyle was when we aquired him for a 3rd round pick.

I think the parts are greater than the sum, is what I'm trying to say. I'm not talking at all, with how he's been producing on the ice.

I believe it will come together eventually. He's not a slam dunk by any means

Strome is probably going to be gone regardless of what happens with Zibanejad and Eichel. If he's looking for a Kevin Hayes type of deal, I don't see us allocating that much cap space for the #2C spot for that long.

The questions that we have to be asking on Zibanejad are (1) is he really back to form? He beat up on a shitty Flyers team, but has not been consistently productive. I hardly noticed him in these last two games against the Caps. And (2) how many years of 1C production does he have left in the tank? He will be 29 when his current contract expires, so maybe 2 or 3 years and then he starts to dip? He's a physically dominant player, so I could see his production drop as his physical gifts start their decline.

Eichel certainly fits the timeline of the team better. Is that worth the price it will take to acquire him? It depends on what the price is.

My biggest concern is that he seems to lack basic NHL puck skills. He can't give and receive passes with any consistency. Offense dies on his stick with regularity. We spend most of time that he's on the ice scrambling in our own zone.

Could the Rangers maybe look into packaging Hajek and Howden to upgrade that left D spot for a player that a team wont be able to protect this summer? Like Carson Soucy?

I see that issue with a large majority of our players. Never seen a NHL struggle so much with rudimentary skills. I know Howden looks like a mess. He doesn't play 'in-control' or with any semblance of confidence

Like I've said, it's what I see he can potentially become in a year or two, depending how quick he can physically develop. It will come together in the end, (if it at all)

He's been here for 3 years. He's 22. I believe a lot of his issues stem from things he can work on. Let's see what happens over the next season or two.
