I don't know how much offense you're going to get out of him but Gauthier does the grindy things really well. He rates above average at forechecking, rebound chances, shots/60, and even carry-ins.

I'd like to see him get more of a role.

Where are you getting forechecking rates?

Yea I like a little competition in the bottom 6 to keep everyone on their toes. But there is just too many guys right now. Gauthier is actually playing pretty well. He looks better each game, to me anyway. Bigger guys usually take longer to develop. That’s how it was with kreider as well. Both have amazing physical tools. The problem is with howden, gauts, Kravstov, LaF, Blackwell, PDG, etc there’s too many bodies to keep them all fresh and give Kravstov and Barron a look even with Lemieux being traded. If we lose Gauthier for nothing we are going to look very silly if he turns into a 20 goal solid 3rd line player. LaF doesn’t score without his well placed shot. He’s getting very good along the boards and he’s driving the net with purpose. I would keep him. But that’s just me.

I just dont understand why we cant put Kravtsov on the 3rd line and have Gauthier slide down the 4th line? Sit PDG. He is just a plug. You can shift Blackwell to LW. Its the 4th line who cares if Blackwell is on his off side. Howden has been out and the PK is just fine. Imagine that...

Trade Howden asap. Take the toy away. I would try and find a competent veteran center to upgrade Rooney. I dont know if thats Bennett or someone else. If we were contending, Glendening would be the perfect add.

Can they get a LD to upgrade Hajek? Or even a RD to upgrade Smith?

Howden isn't going anywhere guys, trading him just basically gets you a mid to late round pick and you lose a penalty killer. Gauthier i could see being moved but again he doesn't have much value. Imo PDG and Gauthier are the two who are on the outside.

I imagine that is what will happen. I may be wrong, but I think Kravtsov has only had 1 practice so far. I'm sure Quinn wants more time to evaluate him and be sure he's up to speed on what is expected of him.

My guess is that he'll be in the lineup on Saturday.

The PK has been just fine without the “stalwart” Brett Howden. Absolutely fine.

This guys possession metrics are embarrassingly bad. Like really bad. The underlying stats match the eye test. He is awful. And as stated last week, he is easily replaceable on the PK. Rooney offers the same output. And Blackwell as the motor for the PK. They even threw out Strome-Kreider last game with Rooney in the box. Howden can kick rocks.

We will continue to agree to disagree on your assessment of Gauthier.
