I realize that this is the Buch weve been waiting for but if he were to become available at the deadline, wouldn't he be the most prized player this year? His value due to his play and the available players this year might never be higher. With Kakko, Kravtsov, Lafreniere, Kreider, Barron and Panarin kicking around could we move him? Just a thought

Could Amirov in Toronto be available? Robertson? Lavoie in Edmonton? Things to think about
Yes unfortunately his days seem to be numbered. Unless Kravtsov lays an egg and shows he terrible, I don’t see the rangers singing buch to a large multi-year deal. He’s an excellent complimentary winger, but there’s not going to be enough minutes to go around unfortunately

His value is high...but we haven't exactly seen the kids on the fast track of their development curve. The team is still trying to compete this season, and almost certainly has playoffs as the goal for next year. I would trade Buch for the reasons you mentioned...but who knows what the organization's feelings are about it right now.

It would have to be those class of guys to give up buch. Evidently, picks are considered gold by gms this year so idk. If the pick was a 1st, buch might get a 6-10 oa.

Rooney has nowhere near the tools Gauthier has. They might grab Rooney. They would def grab Gauthier. And we gave up Keane whose doing well again to get him. Horrible asset management

There will be a dozen guys like Rooney available. Gauthier might be attractive given his physical abilities and his goal scoring in the AHL.

Translation: Player who has been in Russia the entire year with zero NHL games in his career can use some practice time with the team and coach to learn the system and expectations before being inserted into the lineup.

I wish folks can take a look at the old Buchnevich threads when he was (early) in the first year of his NHL career, just to get some references and adjust expectations on what to see from Kravtsov.

I still have to think GMJG is open to upgrading the seventh forward or third defenseman he will protect in the expansion draft. No question that some of the players at the bottom of the roster and a prospect (or two) could be moved in the right deal.

@Edge as well.

Could we see a "circle back" maneuver here?

A 4th for Lemieux seemed a touch on the low side but not without value lost/gained for either team if, a handshake circle back was agreed involving McDermid when he comes off IR in return for another minor asset.

I realize Bobbop has mentioned Ekholm in the past and both players make sense for different reasons but, at the same time, make sense as expansion slot worthy.

I'd take either for obvious role reasons.

I dont think we are pigeon holed into the buyers/sellers lable this TDL. With our record and current line up, imo we just stay the corse and collect available talent in continuous forward motion of shaping the roster into the mold that Gorts and JD envision.

I also think he'd like to upgrade the team.

There will be room to overpay Lowry. That’s who would be a perfect fit for this group.

Why would we intentionally overpay anyone?

Lowry is almost guaranteed to stay in Winnipeg. His dad is one of the assistant coaches in Winnipeg, literally behind the bench with him every night, and they both love it there.

I'm a little confused about why we want Adam Lowry but I'm going to just assume he's really good on faceoffs.
He's really good defensively. I wouldn't pay him much more than what he's making now but he is a good player. Plus he has size and all the other attributes that people love.

Yes he has a lot of responsibilities. Determining how and when to get Kravtsov into the lineup is nowhere near the top of them. He’s been back with the team with for one day. The priority is the next game. And as I said he never said he didn’t have a plan why are we making things up?

in fact he literally says the plan is for him to continue to practice with the team until he’s ready

It’s how Quinn works but I don’t like it, and lol, it’s pretty much as close to “I have no plan’ as you get. Kravy isn’t some unknown, nobody should be an unknown. They should know if and how he can help, and have planned accordingly.

Anyone wanna know why our top picks are scoring record few pts? This is the reason for it. These things work themselves out if you coach Eichel in the NCAA, but in the NHL it won’t cut it.

It’s happened before for far lesser players. If you have to outbid other teams for a good fit then you bite the bullet.
You do know JD and Gorton are never going to have a roster that completely satisfies orthodox corsies.

Is that Quinn quote real? I mean seriously, I get that you want to see him in practice more and not commit to getting him in to the lineup.

But to flat out admit they haven’t talked about it and there is no real plan?! Like the kid just showed up at practice one day and the coaching staff is like...oh so, you’re here now?

This is just throwing fuel on the fire of questioning the NYR development of young forwards. Quinn and staff should at minimum have a rough version of a plan here. They should have f***ing discussed it.

Edit - and sincerely hope I am just missing some context. Would like to know the full version of what he really said.
This "development coach" label needs to be done. He coaches the same as any other coach, probably closer to AV with veteran preference and Tortorella with line jumbling. He coaches to win every game by leaning on specific players. They get the chances and the opportunity to make mistakes. Kravtsov is not a discussion because his development is way down the list of priorities.

I'm not saying its wrong or arguing the merits. He just is not a development coach.

I think you overestimate the opportunity Kravtsov will get to prove his value or make an impact. It would be shocking if he gets 2/3 of the games left with anything over 9 minutes per. No PP time. Low ceiling partners. No freelancing.

If they part with Buchnevich it is because Kakko is defensively sound enough to get the minutes. I don't think Buch is traded though.

I hope not. It’s all gona come down to how much cash he’s gonna want. With Kreids on a big deal, LaF, Kakko, Kravstov all in the fold I just don’t see them giving buch top dollar with term while the center position is still kind of up in the air
