only thing lower is Mika's value atm.

Here's the plan: Trade for Eichel in the offseason. Run Eichel and Zibanejad as 1-2 down the middle for next season. Mika continues to suck: extend him for cheap in 2022 or just let him walk. He bounces back and prices himself out of NY: trade him for a massive haul next February. Badabing badaboom
At this stage Chytil is going to need minutes. If we aren’t playing him top 2 C we should deal him. He very well could wind up being a better center then Turcotte overall.

Derek Ryan on waivers

Just do Ryan and Bennett for Tony D and DiGiuseppe already
Treliving has to circle back to the other 29 teams and check in again. Confirm that they will be available in a week to schedule the preliminary talks to establish what medium is used to negotiate.

He is like the Ents in the lord of the rings. Take forever to discuss anything. Hey, wait a second. Ent. Treliving. Tree Living. That's it!

for christ's sake already!!!!

fans crapping on zib's because of 1 bad month. if rangers traded him for eichel god forbid if eichel were to have a similar month. "fans" would have eichel's head on a swivel. zib is a top notch center.

by the way, if the oilers can have mcdavid-draisatil, pens crosby-malkin, leafs matthews-tavares then a bug market metropolis should find some way to have both eichel and zibs. no excuses.

In stead of going big game hunting, how about we keep Mika and Chytil and augment them with a Reinhart?

Two years younger than Strome, more consistent 45-60 point player.

Think we could get him signed to 6.5 per?

Acquisition cost would be alot cheaper than the big game

We clearly have a fetish for players that were Captains in Buffalo.
You forgot Lindy

need a C

What are the reasons for not wanting an elite 1C
He's an elite offensive talent. Would look good on my fantasy team. I dont think he's a player you win with. He's not the right piece to the puzzle. He can turn into it, he's still young but I'm not gambling like that. If it's McDavid, sure.

Acquiring him, demands shuffling a lot of things around. Creating more risk and possibility for things to 'go wrong'.

We need solid, 2 way centers. Not Jack Eichel imo.

Barkov or Bergeron are the prototypical players IMO. A poor mans Barkov or Bergeron would suffice.

Eichel looks off right now. Like yeah he is still out there with the puck on his stick, but you just dont see that extra gear and enthusiasm he usually plays with. He wants out.

I'll bite: who is a poor man's Barkov or Bergeron?

Here's your periodic asterisk to the above.

A NMC doesn't exist to prevent a trade, it exists to give players final approval/veto over a trade.

Player's don't want a NMC because they love the team they are signing with, they want a NMC to make sure their next team isn't Buffalo. :sarcasm:
Who are we trading Zib to that he’ll waive for?

Not the right piece? Not a player you win with? Lol what? Cmon. I understand being concerned with the price to acquire him, but every team could use Jack Eichel. Every team. Its not his fault has been stuck in that dump of an organization. He cant singlehandedly win hockey games. McDavid hasn’t been able to, would you turn him away too? Because situationally, its not much different. He has been there 5 years and has not played in a single playoff game. This year likely makes it 6 years of no playoffs. That wears on a guy after awhile, especially a competitor like Eichel.

Again, I can understand concerns about price... but everything else is a very questionable opinion.

Why are you so sure he isn’t what is holding the team back?

He has 351 points in 371 games played. He isnt holding that team back unless he is a complete asshole in the room and on the ice to his teammates. What has he had around him all these years? What have the Sabres built around him?

Except the Oilers never win. They have great players and bad teams. I do however, think we can have Eichel and Mika. Mika has to wake up.

He's their best player, their captain and he's bailing on his team nightly. He needs to own some of this, a lot of the moves and signings they made were to make him happy. This has to be the first time I can think off that the highest paid player and captain of a team wanting to leave his club. Thats a bit of a red flag for me, for me the price to get him is a huge gamble for this team given we aren't a team with a solid leadership group. Realistically the deal to get him is gonna be heavy, he's signed long term to a deal that should age well, he's a center with elite skill, i don't see b prospects and a 1st rounder in a weak draft doing it for a team like Buffalo that needs to rebuild it from scratch.
