Not the right type of roster for Torts.

You guys think Rooney plays a lot right now...
I 100% disagree.

Torts wouldn't have these guys playing like they are now. I honestly don't see many primadonnas on this team that wouldn't go along with him. Zibanejad...maybe. There's good history with him and Panarin. I feel like he'd love Chytil, American Buch, Kakko and Lafreniere.

The only way I'm giving up a blue chipper in a package for Eichel is if Buffalo retains some salary. Even if Eichel is playing lights out, his $10 million cap hit is a detriment to his trade value and the team acquiring him.

I would not give up Lundkvist and Kravstov for Eichel at his full cap hit. For Eichel at an $7.5 million cap hit for the next 6 years? I would hate it but I think I'd do it.

Torts would be.... interesting, but's its never gonna happen. Lemmy and Lindgren would evolve into their final forms though under him.

I'm much more worried about how players like Adam Fox, K'Andre Miller, Kakko, Laf, and Kravtsov would deal with Torts, for various reasons.

Kakko isn't the type of player who does better because he's just been hollered at. Fox would be discouraged from making risky passes and pinches. Miller wouldn't develop the potential offensive part of his game.

The core of this team moving forward looks like it may be the blue line. Small guys like Lundkvist and Jones... IDK how they'd make it. Torts runs a system that rewards Lindgrens, Kleins and Sauers over Dan Boyles, Michael Del Zottos, and Adam Foxes

He's making remarkably close to what I think he would get on the open market as a UFA. That statement in and of itself should reduce his trade value hugely right there. Just like Kreider and Strome wouldn't get a big trade haul

I understand what you are saying, but guys like Kakko, Laf, Fox, Miller, and to a lesser extent Kravtsov are all skill players, but they are by no means soft. Miller especially has a nasty streak that he just hasn't (needed to) shown yet. For Panarin, one of the best "finesse" and skilled players in the league to have one of the best seasons of his career under Torts and for him to endear himself to Torts, I'm not worried about the others above.

Krieder is already twitching with flashbacks and feeling a tremor in the Force by Torts being discussed in here for another run.

Trading Eichel at 10m cap hit in the middle of a season is impossible.

Him playing like crud to force a move is really hurting Sabres ability to get fair value because acquiring that cap hit is very difficult for the acquiring team. Sabres would likely get more if they could wait for the offseason.

If I'm the Rangers i'm offering Kravtsov, Jones, 2021 1st round pick, but we'd also have to send version of Strome, TDA, Buch or Brendan Smith somewhere too. Whether also in that package

LOL come on, you aren't getting Eichel for Kravtsov, Jones, and a 1st no matter what the situation is. That doesn't even get entertained by Buffalo.

A top 6 forward prospect (our best forward not in the NHL), an unprotected top 10 pick and an Adam Fox clone is pretty darn close to fair value IMO.

This idea that Eichel, who:

- hasn't taken his team to a single playoff round
- hasn't scored more than 82 points in a season
- is making 10m a year in the cap era
- is pouting like a baby.

...is worth the moon. Is a tad unrealistic.

Jack Eichel ISNT:
- Connor McDavid
- Austin Mathews
- Nathan Mckinnon

He's at least a tier below all those guys right now. I'm not paying for his draft position. I'm just not.

Trading for Jack Eichel at 10m comes with risk. He's not exactly a natural born leader but he'll be paid like one.

Eichel is definitely mailing it in out there right now. Which is not super comforting when we are talking about the NYR making some crazy offer as a rebuilding team.

He’s a really good player and would be a great fit for the organization on the ice. But I’m not sure the right move now is for the NYR to be the high bidder on this one.

Eichel wants out of Buffalo, he’s just following the guide sports players do now when they’re disgruntled

I’m not worried about his effort. People were giving James Harden shit a couple months ago for his lack of effort in Houston and the moment he got traded he went back to being a top player.

It’s just what has to be done to facilitate a trade

Kravtsov isn't even top 5 on his KHL team in scoring and people are assuming he's NHL ready.

Buchnevich was doing more, at a younger age.
What I’ve learned over the past few years of deeper observation (thanks to this board, truly) is that most players don’t reach maturity til like 23 or 24 and that peak is fairly short-lived. Though, not hard-and-fast on either end, of course.

Where have we seen a nasty streak from Miller? I would be thrilled if he has some edge to his game. But from what I’ve seen so far he is not interested at all in mixing it up.

You would probably have to deal Kreider before getting him in the same room as Torts.

They never got a long.

Torts: not 'crazy' about Kreider recall
