I think if you read between the lines, there is a very good chance Hank developed the heart condition as a result of an undisclosed COVID diagnosis. He spent the break back in Sweden did he not? Very sad.
Oh ok. So we have around 4M in cap space? The cap was $81.5 million last year. I don't think the taxi squad will count against the cap.

It sounds like that figure isn't taking it to account the bonus cushion overage. Think it's around $1M.Oh ok. So we have around 4M in cap space?

This should make Kakko happy
I don’t doubt at all that we’re talking with Calgary. I doubt that we’re interested in either Monahan or Hanifin. I seriously doubt that we would move DeAngelo or Buchnevich for either.
Did Calgary make that offer? I don’t doubt they would. I don’t think Gorton would take it seriously though. That isn’t to say there aren’t other Calgary players he’s interested in, whether or not Buch or ADA are part of a return.
TARMO! TARMO! TARMO!
He’s the LD prospect I hope steps up in camp
Look, at the end of the day, all I can do is point to being on here for 23 some odd years, writing for the site (back when it was a site), and getting info on here before it was reported elsewhere.
Maybe it’s all lie, but over 23 years you’d think someone would uncover the lie. And to make the lie work, my ability to put names and places together would be extraordinary. To the point that I should be an investigator for the feds.
So I have very little control over whether people want to believe what I am saying, view it as a series of amazingly intuitive coincidences and lucky guesses, or think I’m full of shit. That’s really their perogative, and at this point there’s probably little or nothing I can do to change their mind.
Rangers approached about Lindholm. Monahan and Hanifin came up in later iterations.
Buch has been in and out of conversations for about a year and a half now with a few teams. He nearly went to Edmonton back in 2019.
As for Monahan, it was also picked up by a TSN reporter and a reporter out of Calgary a few weeks after this board knew the Rangers were talking to Calgary.
But yes, those names have been exchanged and none of them have been rejected by either side.
Oh ok. So we have around 4M in cap space?
Are these talks still continuing? I have dreams of Lindholm/Monahan centering our second line. And who knows, maybe Hanifin can recapture his previous success?
I get it, and don’t blame anyone.
On the flip side, I do like to point out that I have considerably more to lose than I have to gain by sharing info.
The reality is that most conversations don’t amount to anything. Frankly, the number of deals that die in the red zone is astonishing. So I do try to pick my spots with what I put out there, knowing that the odds are always against it coming to fruition.
With regards to Calgary, I will note that those talks are described to be on hold, rather than dead and buried. I think both teams want to see how things shake out before potentially resuming any discussions.
In a similar manner to Carolina and Boston, you could also see a scenario where a larger discussion is broken into several smaller trades and discussions.
Gorton has no problem re-connecting with teams if they can’t close the deal at a particular point in time.
So I’d still keep an eye on that one.
Would have been surprised if Reunanen wasn’t in camp.
At the moment we have $879,367 in cap space with 14 forwards and 7 defensemen
Given Brendan Smiths offseason work regimen, the odds of Tarmo outplaying him in camp are actually significant
Thanks. I’ll put those dreams to rest for now.Was just reading his comments as well, quite interesting. The bolded should answer your question
I still think Smith is starting on the wing because we simply don't have enough NHL caliber wingers to fill out our line up.
A bottom-6 of Lafreniere-Chytil-Smith and Lemieux-Howden-Gauthier with Reunanen playing on the left side of our defense with Lindgren and Johnson
Assuming everyone's healthy, I think you see Gauthier at 3rd line RW and Rooney at 4th line RW. All things are subject to change depending on injuries, performance of kids in camp, etc., of course, but given the interviews with management this offseason, I get the sense they signed Rooney to be a PKer with the big club.I still think Smith is starting on the wing because we simply don't have enough NHL caliber wingers to fill out our line up.

I really hope not. He's a truly terrible winger.
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Lafreniere-Chytil-Gauthier
PDG-Howden-Blackwell
Rooney
No particular order, but that's enough forwards. If Reaunanen makes the starting lineup we will likely have 8 defensemen on the official roster with JMFJ and Smith as healthy scratches.
Blackwell and Rooney should be nowhere near the NHL roster
