I really hope not. He's a truly terrible winger.

Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Lafreniere-Chytil-Gauthier
PDG-Howden-Blackwell
Rooney

My stomach was upset from a virtual happy hour...and that bottom six specifically 4th line is actually making it worse

I like Gauthier and he has potential but I'm not playing him of 2 career NHL assists and a developing young center who so far (key words "so far") has not shown to be a good puck dishing center but more of a carrier with a Number 1 overall pick.

That 4th line is a nightmare. If they throw that out there on a regular basis you're essentially playing with nine forwards.

What it should be if Barron looks good:

Lafreniere-Chytil-Barron
Lemieux-Howden-Gauthier

If Barron is not ready you move Lemiuex up to the third line and allow someone like a Gettinger who is good with the cycling and possession a chance to develop.

Rooney can be 13F.

PDG is taxi squad material.

Jack Johnson is going to have a role very similar to Steve Emminger's when he was here.

There will be some nights he plays with Trouba and gets 19-20 min, and others he is a healthy scratch.

So now that this scenario has been established I hope you all have a few weeks to accept and deal with that trauma so when it happens, there is no outrage.

No particular order, but that's enough forwards. If Reaunanen makes the starting lineup we will likely have 8 defensemen on the official roster with JMFJ and Smith as healthy scratches.
Laf and Kreider will quickly be switched, though i would expect it to start the way you have.

Are these talks still continuing? I have dreams of Lindholm/Monahan centering our second line. And who knows, maybe Hanifin can recapture his previous success?

I think it’s still on the table and the teams will touch base again. For the Rangers it’s gonna be a matter of seeing how Chytil progresses, if Zibanejad can stay healthy, or if other options present themselves.

It's time for Kreider to be a regular PKer.

Especially when he goes invisible for games at a time, at least he'll be contributing there.

I like Kreider a lot but I don't think he becomes Erik Cole or Tim Kerr this season.

Every year is this "This is the year Kreider hits 30 goals" to go along with the "this is the year the Panthers break out".

In fairness, he’s been at a 30 goal pace for several years now. The lack of “hitting 30” is more a factor into games played and other circumstances. But from a production standpoint, his 82 game paces over the last four years are:

31
23 (surgery season)
29
31

So I’m less concerned about hitting self-imposed plateaus, as much as I am with hitting performing at a certain level.

If Kreider gets into that funk early where he is just going through the motions I sit his butt in the press box and put Lafrenier in his spot and let him know what kind of commitment the Rangers made with him on his new deal . If that fails to work then maybe a coaching change might be in order . This team will go as Kreider goes the way we are constructed right now . He is our hustle/muscle upfront and he has to use it and be a force every game like Adam Graves was for us . So....if old coach can't light a fire under him....bring in one that can . We can't tie up 7 million in a pool jumper . He is so key to this team right now....it is not even funny anymore . I just don't think he wants to win bad enough and is still a bit soft when his physical presence is needed . With 8 games against some nasty clubs....his time is now.

@Edge I agree and I'm not trying to be snarky. The problem I have is it can't always be "on pace" for 30 Goals.

At some point "on pace" has to turn into actual production.

Ohh ok - but Miller was living with CK for a bit, right?

Do we know who this billet family is? Someone in the org?

Billet families aren't public knowledge. They are picked by the Rangers and they get compensated for housing players, often with season tickets.

Last year one of the billet families reached out to me and offered me their season tickets for pre-season. That's how I was able to sit on the glass for those games at MSG

The ones I've spoken to all live in Connecticut.

Exactly. Before his injury Kreider was playing great last season . Just because he didn’t hit 30 doesn’t mean he wasn’t an excellent presence in our top 6 and PP. if he plays the same way this season I’ll be satisfied.

For such a “great leader” who people want as captain you’d think Kreider will be willing to mentor Lafreniere and let him move in with him..just goes to show you he’s yet another me-first guy out for himself worried he’ll fall to the 3LW job if Lafreniere performs as we all hope.

thank you, Pepe. I value your knowledge and willingness to put it out there for us.

I get that. I guess my replay would come down to is there really a difference between 28 goals in 75 games or 28 goals in 79 games vs. 30 goals in 82 games? Not really, other than optics. Which I get, we all like like nice round numbers or clear cut tiers. But I don’t think 28 in several less games really makes him less of a player than if he suited up for the extra few games.

This year was more of the same. In a weird way, for all of his goal scoring streaks, Kreider’s year-end production is remarkably steady.

For several years he was at that 21/22 goal plateau, and now he’s more at the 28-30 plateau.

LOL. Are you saying that photo isn’t really me?

But joking aside, I think a lot could really depend on seeing how Zibanejad does this next year. I know this board doesn’t necessarily want to hear this, but the Rangers aren’t fully committed to him long-term just yet.
