Is this your first time around these parts?
This guy has been insinuating for months that Edge (or any of our vetted posters for that matter) dosen’t actually have sources, which it’s obvious Edge does lol

I mean patently obvious.

Like he’s told us things weeks/months in advance and then Larry gets around to writing an article about it after the fact

Yeah, there are a ton of examples. And another reason for it is just, four eyes will catch things two misses.

I think I phrased my first post a little poorly. But the ‘new doctor’ thing is something you hear about every now and then.

He also gets tested by doctors outside of ours before heading into international competition.

It hasn't been that long since he played at the worlds (2 years?) This is most certainly something that developed recently.

So taxi squad likely gonna be guys like DGP, Blackwell Reuananen or Hajek amd Kinkaid vs kids like Barron ?

yes that would be my guess...hartford will miss out on veterans but the taxi squad will be guys you don't mind having sit.

Why is Larry the standard for who is in the know? What does he have, like a 25% accuracy rate? His articles can be interesting but mostly homerisms and obvious observations. I would guess he rips as many stories from here as anywhere else.

Or you can point to the stuff that this board knew about months before it was reported on TSN and other outlets.

It's pretty wide open as to what standard we want to set.

I think this board is very much ahead of the curve on a lot of topics that don't hit the mainstream until later.

"Normally, Marc Bergevin will give me a head's up about any possible trade. I don't usually know which player. I may know his nationality, where he's from. I don't know which team he plays for, but they tell me where he is so I can get ready, figure out which flights are available. I'll ask them, 'do you want him on the ice tonight?, get things rolling?, or he's only coming in tomorrow?'" - Claudine Crepin, Montreal Canadiens team services & hockey administration manager

I’m amazed at how some posters can look around the league and come up with a list of position specific players who might fit the Rangers salary cap and roster needs.

It seems like a good time to recall that Ricky, aka Dagoon, was vetted. I think the basis for that was he booked autograph events that included, among semi-pro wrestlers, some hockey players.

Its pretty well established now that he does not have an "in", but he was vetted nonetheless.

The problem is still where do all the other guys play? Do they sit in Hartford for long periods of time?

Cap wise what happens?

They play when they prove they’re the best option. This team is weak at LD. You don’t hold spots because Reunanen, Robertson, or Miller might be ready. If they can’t beat out a Brendan Smith or Jack Johnson then they aren’t ready. It’s not like we are talking about blocking Cale Makar or Quinn Hughes here...

So most teams are gonna carry 20 w 6 on the taxi
Why would NYR not w so many guys that can be sent down on paper?

Hartford is going to have a lot of echl bodies since that team is not playing this year

Kreider Zib Buch
Panarin, Strome , Kakko
Laf, Chytil, Gauthier
Lemieux , Rooney , Howden
PDG, Blackwell, x... not sure Barron makes sense

TDA, Trouba
Lindgren , Fox
Johnson , Smith
Bibetto, Hajek/Reuananen

Shesterkin
Georgiev
Kinkaid

that’s 26

I think you see Smith next to Trouba to start. And TDA with Johnson. But it might not be long before one of Smith/Johnson become the 7th D. Its a short season and you cannot wait for things to sort themselves out. If something isnt working they should be making changes. I think it will take quite a showing in a shortened camp with no exhibition games for Reunanen/Miller/Hajek to beat one of them out.

Look, at the end of the day, all I can do is point to being on here for 23 some odd years, writing for the site (back when it was a site), and getting info on here before it was reported elsewhere.

Maybe it’s all lie, but over 23 years you’d think someone would uncover the lie. And to make the lie work, my ability to put names and places together would be extraordinary. To the point that I should be an investigator for the feds.

So I have very little control over whether people want to believe what I am saying, view it as a series of amazingly intuitive coincidences and lucky guesses, or think I’m full of shit. That’s really their perogative, and at this point there’s probably little or nothing I can do to change their mind.

For you to have the hit rate that you do on some of this stuff... the odds would be extraordinary. Only possible in the most extreme Edge cases...

wait a second...

What I’m saying has less to do with you and more to do with people piling on a poster for being reasonably skeptical. I seriously doubt you were insulted or even bothered by huerter’s comments. I’m sure if you were, you’d just ignore them.

I personally don’t put much stock in the Monahan/Hanifin rumor. It just didn’t do much for what we were hypothetically giving up, and the cap considerations didn’t seem in line with other moves we’ve seen recently. But it’s a rumor, and a question this thread was made to debate.

The vetting system here does not produce individuals whose information cannot be doubted, and if they personally cannot be doubted, their skin is probably too thin for a message board (aka Dagoon, whose ego trips were something else). Brooks doesn’t get it right most of the time now, and certainly someone who hears things won’t either.

Skepticism fosters debate. This thread benefits from debate. Posters who are skeptical and don’t blindly believe someone like dagoon aren’t the problem.

I get it, and don’t blame anyone.

On the flip side, I do like to point out that I have considerably more to lose than I have to gain by sharing info.

The reality is that most conversations don’t amount to anything. Frankly, the number of deals that die in the red zone is astonishing. So I do try to pick my spots with what I put out there, knowing that the odds are always against it coming to fruition.

With regards to Calgary, I will note that those talks are described to be on hold, rather than dead and buried. I think both teams want to see how things shake out before potentially resuming any discussions.

In a similar manner to Carolina and Boston, you could also see a scenario where a larger discussion is broken into several smaller trades and discussions.

Gorton has no problem re-connecting with teams if they can’t close the deal at a particular point in time.

So I’d still keep an eye on that one.

I don’t doubt at all that we’re talking with Calgary. I doubt that we’re interested in either Monahan or Hanifin. I seriously doubt that we would move DeAngelo or Buchnevich for either.

Did Calgary make that offer? I don’t doubt they would. I don’t think Gorton would take it seriously though. That isn’t to say there aren’t other Calgary players he’s interested in, whether or not Buch or ADA are part of a return.

1) With the increase in cap (albeit slight), do you think we kick the tires on Granlund or Haula?

2) Do you think the Rangers file a grievance with the NHL to try to get out of the King's dead cap?
