Thinking back on it, the 14-15 games Duclair played in the NHL was probably a situation where they were showcasing a player. He deferred a lot, but had plenty of value as a former top pick. He's jacked now too, so he's got a very different physique. Shame he's a journeyman, but he's got it in him to rack 20 on a given season. Not sure you will see him on a lot of winning teams though.

$1.7 million for a guy who is only 25 years old and can pot 20 goals. Scored 23 last season. 19 the year before. The talent and finishing ability is there enough making that $1.7 very good value for Florida.

I would love to hear that. Sounds like an Esposito type move. He loved trading with Minnesota and Lou Nanne.

What was the whole Gartner for Ciccarelli deal? Why did both those teams make that trade? I was so young then so it was more of an "ok...." I just went with it.

I just can’t believe that if Detroit moved him to TB for only a conditional pick in 1996, we couldn’t have done better. Would have been nice to add him to our depleted forward corps in the ECF.

I wouldn’t call the back half of the 3rd round a “top pick”. Duclair was playing well at the time and earned the opportunity. It was also good timing for a showcase.
