@GAGLine was the first to mention that we were in for a squeeze with performance bonuses shortly after the deadline.
Wouldn't do it, you would be betting on two assets hopefully working out versus keeping the one elite assets that is much safer to be an impact player. It would need to be more than what you floatedHmm… would LA go so far as 2OA, one of Turcotte/Vilardi/Kupari and Bjornfot in exchange for the 1OA?
How do you know he's nice?

Two-way contract only means he'd get paid different salaries between the NHL and AHL. He's on a one-way but regardless of that, if the Rangers send him to Hartford they only save like $950k on the cap.
The new term is "Buried" contract.

Haven't we been talking about this and the performance bonuses? Doesn't sound like new news for us but the pundits catching up to what we've been discussing for weeks.
he's probably going to score 40 points in his first 3 seasons and then suddenly jump into the 80 point category.Byfield may have serious boom potential but there’s also hella bust potential as well.
he was. Rare issue to be presented with but I dont think its that dire.@GAGLine was the first to mention that we were in for a squeeze with performance bonuses shortly after the deadline.
The bonus cushion issue sort of means nothing. They were going to account for these bonuses on this year's cap anyway. Being up against the cushion just forces them to do what they are already doing.
Yeah, and while it will cause some concern getting under the cap initial, most of the bonuses won't be realized, and there won't be a bonus overage carry into next year's cap. Though as you say, there will be an issue with that year's bonuses too.he was. Rare issue to be presented with but I dont think its that dire.
It makes decisions tougher. If we didn't have the bonus issue, Strome would have been signed/qualified already.
It comes down to, 'Is Strome worth the dead cap space?' We can still survive with an absurd amount of dead cap space next year... but if it does happen, it should be for a player with a long term future here
We will more than likely be surpassing the Bonus limit next year too. Lafreniere, Kakko, Fox and possibly Kravtsov, Miller etc.
I’m in the same boat. I think LA has talent but it’s the wrong timeline. We need a C that can contribute immediately. Maybe Vilardi can give that to you, but I’m not screaming for that. Byfield would be someone you would hope could fill that, but it’s an unnecessary dice roll. There is nothing on LA that would be that offer that you can’t justify refusing. We are exiting the rebuild phase, they are still in theirs and that’s where their assets are.I wouldn't.
Vilardi has a history of back issues, Kupari is meh and I've never been super high on Turcotte.
Bjornfot isn't anything overly special either.
Too many alternatives to Strome on the market right now, all due to make considerably less than what Strome could fetch and we could get stuck with in an arbitration award.
Anyone have an idea what these bonuses are and the likelihood of EVERYONE hitting?@GAGLine was the first to mention that we were in for a squeeze with performance bonuses shortly after the deadline.
None of the buy out guys are remotely appealing yet. No need to dumpster dive on this yet.
