Because he has a NMC (Staal too), he has the option to decline waivers and go straight to a buyout.Do not understand. Doesn't Shatty have to be waived prior to buyout?

He has a full NMC meaning he does not have to pass through waivers before being bought out. Thereby he & Staal (and Hank too actually) can be bought out last minute before the 2nd buyout window closes without any regards to lingering waivers conditions (which I believe Names and Smith fall under).Do not understand. We typically do front load contracts. Names was signed for 2 years though. I don't think we could have done much with so little term.
Shatty's contract, for example, was 8m, 8m, 6.6M, and 2M. Trouba's is 12M, 10M, 8M, 6M, 8M, 6M, and 6M. Same with Smith.
Ok, got it. So no waiver (smitty and names) within 26 minutes then we know Staal or Shatty possibly bought out.He has a full NMC meaning he does not have to pass through waivers before being bought out. Are they waiting until Weds to make their buyout decision(s)?
Does this tell us they are investigating every trade avenue and are purposely waiting closer to the deadline to see if any teams up their offer before they decide to pull the trigger on a buyout?
I mean, there is no rush to announce the buyout(s)
For better or worse, if he bought out Hank, the happiest guy in NYC would be Brodie Von Come Get us as the torches passed right by queens toward Penn Plaza. If so, Names and Smith are both off as buyout options. Then only Staal, Shatty and Hank remain as options
I’d be interested to know what the asking price was for Kreider at the draft.
We know Colorado wasn’t interested in whatever the Rangers were asking for.
I understand you don’t want to give him away but if you can get a deal that’s similar to what he’d Bring back at the deadline, i would have pulled the trigger
Insurance will pick up 80 percent of it.I’m assuming Callahan’s contract is insured and Ottawa won’t be paying him much because he makes more than Condon this season.
shatty has no role on this team. hes 30 and plays little defense. 5v5 hes probably the worst righty defender on roster.
trouba will play a ton. ADA and fox make for a good 2 and 3.
KS PP time will be non existent. ADA deserves a shot at the top of the PP1 certainly trouba will get time there and adam fox is a prototypical PP pmd and all are rightys.
logic says shatty has no minutes.
To me, penciling in Fox for immediate use at the NHL is somewhat foolish. Yes, we could sign someone to a PTO and find out, but they could just play Shattenkirk there and let Fox get AHL time. Hopefully Shattenkirk restores some value and could be moved at 50% come the TDL.
If not, then after his 7/1 bonus is paid. Could retain 50% then too. Not the end of the world if he stays and someone like Smith and/or Names is bought out.
Whats the next move if its Smith? @BBKers
Slightly off-topic question... but with Callahan being traded to Ottawa does this increase his taxes pretty heavily?
I'd rather not be forced out of necessity to play a rookie in the 3RD spot either, but Shattenkirk is the guy you buy out if your plan is to ensure you're under the cap in the event you don't find a good deal for Namestnikov or Kreider before the season opens.
Like I said a few posts back, I'm sure they'll sign a 6/7 to cover their bases.
Thank you for this.If Shattenkirk is the guy the gets bought out, I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign a cheap RD. I know some of you are going to throw up in your mouths at the thought of some of these, but here are the UFAs still out there who played any games in the NHL last year
Girardi
McQuaid
Lovejoy
Petrovic
Gryba
Thank you for this.
