Wait, is that proposal a legit rumor or just speculation? Kaprizov has major potential.
From what I understand is that getting a non roster big talent outside the NHL this season is very possible for Buch - especially if the price is low for Kreider now. I put the Kaprizov name in it. But there are other candidates. Interesting concept

I'll refuse to believe that the price for Kreider is THAT low until he starts the season here.

The demand will be there for him. Just from a long term optics stand point, one of him or Buchnevich have to go.

I tell Kreider that he can have 6.5x5 (plus no NMC/NTC bull shit) or I'm moving on.

Maybe a deal to be had with Vegas and Gusev...

Heck, if he would somehow take 5 years, I'd gladly give him 7 mil

Love Buchnevich - so much so that Kaprizov is the only possibility I'd entertain in such trade (maybe Podkolzin but that is a pipe dream). No thank you to either Gusev or Tkachev.

What do we get out of that exactly though? We’re short on nhl talent this year and we’d lose one to get a probabaly more expensive one back a year or more from now?

Strome, Names, and Howden are only "not good enough" if you are expecting us to be playoff competitors.

Not one NYR in a tie has said were are a playoff bound or bust team. Patience is part of the process, and the process is rebuilding this club from the ground up.

Gorton himself said the other day, they have no expectations of being a playoff contender even with the additions of Trouba and Panarin. That those signings were not intended for that purpose, only to continue the process of building the team and that, that plan was still in motion as far as they were concerned.

The view actually is the Rangers want to see continued progress and the team being more competitive whether or not the team makes the playoffs but if they do the team will be very pleased about it.

The Habs last year are a good example. Kind of choked in the playoff race, but most of the important pieces looked good and Kotkaniemi/Domi looked great. That's a good season for a young team!

I do think the opportunity cost of Panarin is that we can't "tank," or at least that if we're the third worst team in the league, it's probably because we didn't get the right development out of a lot of our guys. That kind of offsets whatever nice player we'd get out of the draft.

I was listening to Greg and Steven’s latest podcast today and Steven brought up a point I hadn’t thought of but was intrigued by, Gusev has some control over his fate as he could very easily just return to the KHL if dealt somewhere he doesn’t want to play. How high are the Rangers on his list?

Because I hate to break it to you but the Rangers management will not force these kids into roles they are not ready for. They need insurance. Strome is not enough.

Brassard happens to be a guy out there who would could sign a 1 year contract on the cheap and fill the role we are looking for. It has nothing to do with bringing back “castaways”. He is a center who has had a respectable career, he could have value at the trade deadline as well. We can sell him then if we see Howden/Lias/Chytil showing they can handle 2C-4C.

Brassard is hot garbage right now. I'd play Nieves instead of him it's that bad.

You have to look at our cap problem. Trading for gusev puts us in an even worse position if we offer buch. Krieder saves us .5m aav.. and I'm sure they won't take names or strome for him. Can we stop with gusev. We cant get him or afford him. The idea again is to trade names, krieder, strome, and/or buch to get cap relief.

The rangers are looking to trade these guys for picks and prospects. Gusev wants 4m aav for 2 seasons..

Remember that summer Nash's value was somewhere between "pennies on the dollar" and "negative value" then we got a haul from Boston at the TDL?

Good times.
