four days isn't enough?I'd prefer someone with more actual Rangers experience.

I will forever cherish Arnott's 15 minutes with the Rangers before he failed his physical
Rangers trivia right there
Possibly you blinkedI must have completely missed that one.
I mean, I remember signings like Tyler Arnason, Ambuhl, Mark Bell and "Next Avery" Andreas Jamtin, but I dont recall Arnott.
No one is saying they are “not good enough”.Strome, Names, and Howden are only "not good enough" if you are expecting us to be playoff competitors.
Not one NYR in a tie has said were are a playoff bound or bust team. Patience is part of the process, and the process is rebuilding this club from the ground up.
Gorton himself said the other day, they have no expectations of being a playoff contender even with the additions of Trouba and Panarin. That those signings were not intended for that purpose, only to continue the process of building the team and that, that plan was still in motion as far as they were concerned.
No...but I understand Ratelle is still in excellent shape.-Has anyone given Arnott a call yet
To be honest (HA HA HA HA), I thought Howden played very well until his injury and showed signs of returning to form once he got back.No one is saying they are “not good enough”.
If you think thats the discussion then you are completely missing the point.
We are trying to navigate the cap. Namestnikov is replaceable for what he brings so we should be moving his salary out. Strome to me is a last resort remove. I like his upside more than Namestnikov.
And just because we arent talking about playoff contention, does not mean we should just hand Howden/Lias/Chytil the keys to the center positions down the middle. They have to earn it and they certainly should not be force fed minutes. A guy like Brassard who can come cheap gives you a safety net to fall back on in the lineup.
I am all for the kids playing, if they are deserving. That goes for everyone. There is no harm in having Brassard on the roster.
The way some are complaining about this, you would think we are adding Bobby Holik with a handsome contract for himself again.

I have this vague memory of us trading for, claiming on waivers, or signing some ancient defenseman around that same time who also was a shell of their former self. Any ideas?
I love going back and reading old threads like this, it's like a little time machine.I have found our very own HFNYR thread on it
Confirmed with Link: - Jason Arnott fails physical; Deal with NYR off
Thank you. That was bugging me.Roman Hamrlik.
Hamrlik actually played 12 games for us. No nostalgia there??Roman Hamrlik.
Sounds good to me. We will know when they are ready to contend. You’ll see the results in win column. Patience. It’s going to be soon. Believe me I’ve watch around 44 seasons. This is the beginning of some special times to come.Strome, Names, and Howden are only "not good enough" if you are expecting us to be playoff competitors.

I'd be just fine walking into next year with Howden/Brassard as the 2/3C combination.
I guess my line of thinking would be, if they can get anything for Strome, the drop off from him to Brassard in actual on ice play would be minimal so adding the asset they receive in return for Strome would be a plus. For example:
To FLA:
Strome
To NYR:
FLA 3rd '20 + FLA 4th '21
Sign Brassard - 1 year @ $2m
Zero interest in brassard. I'd rather give that spot to howden...
Oh yeah I'm sure I'm gonna get murdered here, and I fully understand why.
But I really love howdens game in flashes last year... I see a metric ton of upside to his game and could see him being a 50ish point shut down center in 2 or 3 years. So if there's a spot on the 2c or 3c.. I'm fine with giving it to him. I don't expect us to win this year regardless. Let the kids get their minutes but insulate them from the really tough matchups with zibenjad and panarin

Bet half those posters feel pretty stupid now that Del Zotto is a Stanley Cup champion and Subban is a cap dump. The Subban vs Del Zotto debate is the highlight of that thread.
