I have a feeling Panarin is all in and it’s money talks no matter what team it is.
At some point I think he was using the panthers to drive up the isles and then used them as leverage to up the ante with the Rangers who to me are always an obvious destination for any player.
In comes Columbus throwing a smoke bomb into all of it and now he and his agent are blinded by the $$$.
He’ll take the highest amount he can get. Knowing Duchene is out Columbus May have had this idea in their pocket from the start.
I think the Isles go beserk and overpay big time. Smartest party in all of this is Gorts who stays firm with the amount he offered from the start.
Panarin is a great player but you can’t have a guy getting 13$+ and expect to make a sustained run at the cup each year. I don’t care what the cap or cba is about in the future
That’s what the Rangers want and you can’t dismantle over a year of rebuilding just to win a bidding war

Hasn't he been saying this whole time his comparable is Matthews? Matthews' AAV is $11.6.
I do think each of these RFAs is waiting for the other to sign a contract with someone to see where the market is. The question is who signs first? Marner, Point, Aho, Rantanen?

Hope he stays in Columbus or goes to Florida though. Don’t want to have to deal with the optics of Islanders fans thinking they are turning the tables on the Rangers with Lou Lamoriello.
Double kick in the balls with Zucc not signing in Dallas.

I hope he goes to Columbus or nyi...by the time the rangers are ready to compete that contract will start to completely cripple the franchise that inks him... I'd rather that be within our division.

Even if it's 12, for any other team giving him a 7 year deal, they'd have to offer 13.714 to hit the same total $ amount.

Anything over 12 million for Panarin is insane. Glad we're out if he's getting offers between 12 and 13 million AAV.
