See that’s where we disagree. It depends on the player, and I personally think it would be worthwhile to bring the specific guy on for up to $11.5. I brought up patience because it’s being reported that he’s asking for 12+. In my opinion, signing him for that much would be the wrong move and would show a lack of patience to wait for the right move.
Your line in the sand is 500K. Half a million is the difference between “Great contract!” And “Wow overpaid” for you. That’s just a tad bit ridiculous. If you liked him at 11.5 not liking him at 12 doesn’t make a lick of sense, not to mention that again, a rebuilding team bringing in a player for that amount of money is not being patient in the least.
11.5 - Whoa, great contract!
12 - Whoa, let’s just be patient about this!

Why NBA agents leak info: 'You must control the narrative'

Agent 4: “The main reason some agents leak stuff is to create false leverage with a team that they’re negotiating with. Also, when you leak information to someone, they can provide you with helpful information as well. It’s not like a one-sided relationship where this person is just hitting you up to break a story. With the top reporters who break news, they can help you too. And don’t get me wrong, they are really respectful about the information they get from other agents and from executives, so it’s not like they’re giving me secrets that someone told them not to share or confidential information that they can’t discuss. The stuff they’re sharing is stuff that will soon be common knowledge, but it just hasn’t been released yet. It’s not like they’re going behind everyone’s back and telling me information that they shouldn’t share.”

Welp you’re definitely putting words in my mouth there! $11.5 is my max, simple logic would conclude that the ABSOLUTE MAX I would think a player would be worth signing for wouldn’t be a “woah great contract”. It would be worth while. And yes. There is a line in the sand. The max I think he should be signed for is 11.5. Not 11.6, 11.5. That’s not unreasonable, having an absolute drop dead max “walk away” number is something that exists in literally any negotiation.

Now that the main dominoes are falling, I’m expecting more trades to occur. Florida will still have cap space. Carolina will want more offense. Vegas still needs cap help. Anaheim has done nothing. Edmonton needs all sorts of help.

Florida needs to sign about 4 more players if they sign Bob and panarin for a combined 22m aav. They will be a very top heavy team with no defense.

Yeah GMJG is a smart guy. This media stuff won't fake him out.
I just saw the article on reddit catching up around the league. Just thought it applied to the leak discussion. Was it us, was it Larry, was it the agent? Maybe Theo thought it would get the pressure on Gorton to up his offer. Maybe it was us, via Brooks, telling Panarin that "this is our final offer" was legit. Or letting his girlfriend know that he is making you drive the LI Expressway for 3/4 of a mil. There were some interesting angles I never considered.

I don’t think they’re getting Panarin. Which means they will have some spots to fill

That would be better for them to have 14m to use 4 forwards, 1 defenseman, and a goalie. If they don't get panarin. With him and Bob. 3m to sign 3 forwards, and a dman

Yandle, Ekblad and the ginger they signed to a 20 year contract are all fine. But yeah, they're gonna need to get something out of rookies and NHL-AHL tweeners. Kind of reminds me of all those Penguins teams

They should find a way to add both guys. They’re still going to be short on secondary scoring and Pavelski just replaces Spezza’s cap hit pretty much.

The 3 year term is perfect for them.

I wish their prospects didn't suck, we have a Kreider that they would probably be very interested in.
