Those power forward contracts don't work.

Lucic
Neal
Ladd
Okposo
Backes

Kreider has been a very good Ranger but those power forwards don't age well at all.

I think Elliotte Friedman had mentioned a Lucic for Neal deal a few months ago.

McKenzie had said on one of his podcasts that an NHL GM told him there 30 bad contracts teams want to lose but nobody wants them.

Lucic for Neal. The bad contracts were traded for each other.

Kreider is not like any one of those players. Not a one.

Neal at 5.75 and Lucic at 6.0. It might be the stock standard .25M retention so everyone has the same cap hit at the end of the day.

I know it can't be done this year, but Neal's buyout, at least to me, seems like an easier one to swallow IF Edmonton goes that route next off-season

I wonder if Edmonton is going to trade Neal too. The big problem with Lucic was his NMC. Neal doesn't have a clause in his contract of any kind.
