Galchenyuk is an average 2nd liner pending UFA making market value. Joseph is the prize. Kessel is legit a gamebreaker. Pens got like 75 cents on the dollar.

Pens got 75 cents on the dollar for a guy who got to pick his spot?

IF it were an open market thing and a situation where everyone was basically desperate to get rid of him I'd agree. The market for Kessel was limited, JR did well here despite that.

Also, I highly doubt Kessel is 90 point Kessel at any point during his stay in Arizona. That team is still not very talented.

Kessel Stepan Keller looks like a line that could put up some points.

I'm not trying to be combative but I can't think of a situation where one GM really put the screws to another GM in a spot like this. It just kinda doesn't happen afaik.

I'd also imagine significant salary in going the other way to PIT in the form of Galchenyuk was a condition of the trade on Arizona's end, not Pittsburgh's. They're probably okay taking a flier but I think if they coulda subbed another piece for Chucky they would have.

That group is going to get annihilated on the boards in any tight checking/obstruction filled game. Someone needs to be replaced by a beefier customer in that group to work.

Reminds me of Nash-Richards-Gaborik in that way. No one to do any dirty work.

Pittsburgh has been after him for like the last 3 years. As far as realistic returns go, there is little doubt thats who they were asking for.

It's a good return for PIT. Whether he plays on a line with Crosby or Malkin, he'll be playing with the best center he's every played with. Kessel should help the Arizona power play which was weak last year.

And this is why I think a Kreider trade to Arizona is still a possibility.

I'll take Dvorak and their 2020 1st, please

Everyone thought MAF was like dead, and a lot of people liked those awful young defensemen Pouliot/Maatta. Sabres fans are really sour about Conor Sheary. I think it's hard to judge players on that team.
