Panarin will be a Ranger ignore the public negotiating thru the media leaks. We all know how this ends.
Galchenyuk is an average 2nd liner pending UFA making market value. Joseph is the prize. Kessel is legit a gamebreaker. Pens got like 75 cents on the dollar.
Kessel Stepan Keller looks like a line that could put up some points.Pens got 75 cents on the dollar for a guy who got to pick his spot?
IF it were an open market thing and a situation where everyone was basically desperate to get rid of him I'd agree. The market for Kessel was limited, JR did well here despite that.
Also, I highly doubt Kessel is 90 point Kessel at any point during his stay in Arizona. That team is still not very talented.

Yup. “Hey Welcome Phil, we’re one of the lowest scoring teams in the league, so get out there and score all the goals for us”Kessel went from what was a perfect situation for him to going to a team where he is going to be relied on to be "the" guy.
I don't see this ending well.
I'm not trying to be combative but I can't think of a situation where one GM really put the screws to another GM in a spot like this. It just kinda doesn't happen afaik.IF it were an open market thing and a situation where everyone was basically desperate to get rid of him I'd agree. That group is going to get annihilated on the boards in any tight checking/obstruction filled game. Someone needs to be replaced by a beefier customer in that group to work.Kessel Stepan Keller looks like a line that could put up some points.

I'd also imagine significant salary in going the other way to PIT in the form of Galchenyuk was a condition of the trade on Arizona's end, not Pittsburgh's. They're probably okay taking a flier but I think if they coulda subbed another piece for Chucky they would have.
Really. Weird. God knows why.Pittsburgh has been after him for like the last 3 years. As far as realistic returns go, there is little doubt thats who they were asking for.
Ya, that’s a great piece for Pitt. They did well here IMO, I don’t know what people were expecting them to get for Kessel.POJ in the Kessel deal? That's steep for Arizona. They were really high on him.
By the standard of this board, all four pieces in this deal are cap dumps.I think the trade is fine.
Some people call Kessel a gamebreaker and others call him a cap dump. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

And this is why I think a Kreider trade to Arizona is still a possibility. That group is going to get annihilated on the boards in any tight checking/obstruction filled game. Someone needs to be replaced by a beefier customer in that group to work.
Reminds me of Nash-Richards-Gaborik in that way. No one to do any dirty work.
I remain 60/40 against, but I actually think you're right, Kovy.Panarin will be a Ranger ignore the public negotiating thru the media leaks. We all know how this ends.
So where can kreider land? Colorado if Zuccarello goes elsewhere? Is Anaheim adding with the Perry buyout? Hoffman will be on the market. I was in denial but this might go the distance.
Very good analysis, IMO.I think the trade is fine.

Wat.I don't like Dvorak at all in general let alone as the main piece for Kreider.
The player I like on ARI is Conor Garland.
