I don’t believe Kessel alone makes AZ a playoff team.

Chakya Khan would be wise to go all in and land CK. Would give them a legit 1st line.

They were almost a playoff teams this year despite an absurd number of injuries throughout the year. I think with or without Kessel they are a playoff team if that doesn't happen again.

What was said?

Basically that he's extremely lazy and gets upset when he doesn't get his way. Demanded to play with Malkin and Maklin didn't like to play with him. Some people thought the decline in Malkin's game recently was a direct result of having Kessel around and instilling bad habits in him. Spent too many nights at the casino and the coaches didn't like his influence on other players.

I don't know but that's not what my post was getting at.
So in other words if we have 5 bottom six centers and one 1C, we can solve this by signing another bottom six C? Help me understand why having Strome at 2C means we should sign Brian Boyle.

They're a pretty deep team if they can stay healthy. Not a ton of super high-end guys but enough talent to get into the playoffs. Injuries really took a toll on them last year.

Galchenyuk is just a much worse version of Kessel who may actually make more money than him after next year when he predictably has a big year offensively flanking either Sid or Malkin

Wow. Probably reflects worse on Malkin than Kessel though; Malkin is the older player (although maybe Kessel is a lot more charismatic than he comes off as...).

Great trade for PHX.

Is that really the best Pens could get for a 90 point star who hasnt shown any signs of slowing down yet?

This is a weird take. But also everyone on earth called them to Florida at the trade deadline when FLA dumped salary.
I meant in regards to the Rangers/Yankees side. They checked in on the player but weren’t going to move mountains to make it work.

To be fair, Toronto didn't get much for him either
Toronto got a 1st and the Pens 1st from the year before (Kapanen) and got to dump the remaining 7 years and 56M on a guy who wanted to leave with a partial NMC. They did fine.

Ahh gotcha. I don't think in either case they took an easy life over 'winning', they're both great players who should think they can lift any squad into a winner. But yeah I get it.

Is it? I think given the circumstances, they gave up quite a bit.
They got a late 1st who may never even make the NHL, and they got a player who if he plays well with Crosby/Malkin will easily command 7+ for 7 years as he becomes a UFA after this year. So he may just walk. That for a 90 point star IMO is a terrible return.

To be fair, the called Sullivan controlling to a fault. Kessel leaves the casino after dinner but they didn't like Guentzel going on a night before a game (again noting the control elements). It was a knock overall on Kessel but it wasn't one sided.

I think Kessel was chilling on the 3rd line for some of the year. If I was him and I was putting up a PPG while making $8M as a fringe all-star while being centered by 76-year old Matt Cullen or the corpse of Derick Brassard I'd be demanding to be treated properly too.

So where can kreider land? Colorado if Zuccarello goes elsewhere? Is Anaheim adding with the Perry buyout? Hoffman will be on the market. I was in denial but this might go the distance.
