I don’t disagree, it’s just looking at that division Florida won’t be going anywhere. Tampa, Toronto, and Boston are gonna be the top 3 for the foreseeable future and that’s not including Montreal that almost made the playoffs. Compared to the Metro where you have Washington and a whole bunch of question marks. Pittsburgh is declining, can the Islanders maintain their play? Columbus is gonna be way worse, Carolina is a wild card literally and figuratively depending on their goaltending situation and scoring. Flyers are mediocre, Rangers and Devils are on the upswing. I’m not advocating for signing him but long term the Rangers resources would run deeper than Florida imo.

That's fair, the Atlantic does look stronger than the Metro in the short term, but you still need to beat some of those teams to get out of the east no matter what. I don't think the Atlantic being a stronger division will be much of a deterrent. Plus, you gotta be realistic about what it'll take to get Panarin on board, and that's looking like a 7 year deal well north of $11m, possibly $12m, per year. That's a big investment for a team who is likely 2 years away from the playoffs let alone cup contention.

Does anyone else find it odd that so many trades have occurred and yet all of the pundits thought it would be the Rangers who would be one of the busiest teams this offseason?

I'm expecting a bunch of trades all at once. Feeling a bit restless from the lack of trade activity.

Definitely, at that price, walk away. Fold and keep playing the cards being dealt to you.

Nah, not really. The pieces the Rangers have to trade are supplementary pieces. They're not serious building blocks and this is the time of year when the market is flooded with those guys. Kreider is the exception, but he's on a 1 year deal and teams are probably trying to squeeze whatever they can out of the market before they circle back.

Once teams miss out on the guys like Lee and Panarin, I bet they revisit Kreider.

Plus, we're all assuming that they want to deal Kreider. They could still re-sign him at this point and that isn't the worst thing in the world.

It will if they give him anything close to a Hayes deal. If that is the case I'd rather up our offer to Panarin.
