This is where there could be a bit of an issue. Kane plays ball with us and does everything we ask of him and the we turn around and trade him lol. Can't we see the problem here?
I don't. Cap space is a valuable resource in the coming seasons and even Kane realizes that his spot on the roster is far from guaranteed.

I agree.

I don't regret the signing at all. He was a force for us and while a person I wouldnt get along with or support outside of sports ( even before the political stuff of the last year) He was a joy to watch in his games here and gave us great moments. He had a swagger that we have lacked for a while and clearly we are missing it this year. Hs mean streak is exactly what the needed when we signed him and still needs to this day.

However, He's Klingberg at this point and probably not going to touch the highs he brought us over the last few years.

Thank you Evander for all you gave us but its time to say auf wiedersehen and move the salary/cap for another player/s.
He definitely brought something of value (despite his issues) but even if he returned for the playoffs (assuming they are in them) --he's essentially missed 2 seasons and is almost 34. He won't be in game shape either.

Having said that, when you look at the forwards, any physicality and swagger would be welcome so I can see how some posters are hoping he will return.

He's better than Pickard and much more experienced than Skinner. He can't play everyday, I don't believe, but he's a better #2, that said they still need to replace Skinner in this, a clean slate for the entire position.
And Skinner needs someone to challenge him for the crease.

They re-signed Pickard only to basically support fragile Stu.

Honestly I wouldn't even mind giving Jonathan Quick a shot. He's pretty washed but he'd be cheap and has a history of elevating in the playoffs. It's not like the other options don't have a ton of warts too. I wouldn't mind grabbing Cam again either. He was our best goalie since Roloson before he got Dustind.

But as long as there's no "Edmonton Oilers part ways with longtime goaltending coach Dustin Schwartz" announcement by March 7th, our goaltending situation will probably still suck regardless of personnel.

The league needs to fix this bullshit LTIR rule. It's absurd that we are all cheering for Kane to miss the whole season. Or how Vegas/Tampa would be happy that their guys being out allowed them to load up.

Like think about how that looks to casual fans, cheering for good players to not play? It's off putting for the league as a whole.
But if he's truly not ready to play until the playoffs, then he's not ready to play till then. Whether you're cheering for that or not.

On the 100% podcast with John Shannon and Darren Millard, Jeff Jackson said Matt Savoie will get a few more games and then they’ll have some decisions to make at the Trade Deadline

It's awesome that we have some certainty about the Kane LTIR. Some pundits were talking about how this was unknown, that maybe we won't have that space

This tells me also that we are planning to use the space. It can't be a coincidence that the surgeries were aligned like this.

Pundits were clueless about the timeline. They're also clueless on what the team's deadline plans are. What Bowman says in an interview means squat.
Pundits being posters.:D

No Savoie again. They have a top six winger who is fast and ready to play but won’t even give him more then 2 games

What has Bowman done here? Didn’t Holloway slip away under his watch? Skinner and RV haven’t been good sure, but Bowman didn’t bring them in. He got some guys off waivers and Klingberg.

He has a week and he better f***ing do something.
He brought in Emby who has been pretty good for his role, and physical

He also brought in Podz, who has been decent, but who also brings much needed physicality. Now I'm not necessarily comparing the 2, but keep in mind Nuke had 27 points in his first year in Col. Podz currently has 22 playing between lines 2 and 4. If he get's 30 points that is a massive win for us his first year and the style he brings

Pundits being posters.:D
With posters being wrong, that's alright since we arent claiming to be anything special. Also, there were many here who weren't just right but actually had information that aligns exactly with what Jackson said.

Pundits are paid to be experts and it feels like they aren't even reporting. They had access to the info that the posters who were right had. I wonder if they are paid to just push the company line or maybe say whatever they feel like saying (and are basically no better than your typical poster on HF)

Not what I'm talking about. The ones who went on and on that Kane would be selfish and just come back ready or not and f*** the Oilers over for any available cap room. Not having a clue about what the medical situation was.

The organization knows exactly what’s going on. They just can’t say it publicly.
All of the insider reporting indicates the opposite. He doesnt care about screwing over the team, is being self-centered about the whole thing, and basically has the team working on his time. They team actually doesn't know whta his status will be, and he's holding up the entire organization. This isn't some ploy by the team.

I agree here. Bowman was brought in during the aftermath of the offer sheets. I give him credit for squeezing an extra pick and prospect out of Jackson's screw up

Bowman has done a great job imo, but in a limited opportunity. The key opportunities for a GM to put their stamp on their team are the draft, the opening weeks of free agency, and the trade deadline.

This upcoming trade deadline will be Bowman's chance to put his mark on the Oilers. It will be the first chance we have to really see how good he is
