Any risque summer vacation photos from NYR players yet? What's the hold up?

When Kakko and Kravtsov are getting paid (4-7 years from now), we will need ELC to balance them.

Keeping our top picks and evaluating talent is way more important than cap space. Even if we do not sign Panarin, we will eventually have cap casualties. There's no way around it
Then we will have to trade players for futures when necessary. Keep drafting like this and filling the pipeline.

Florida Panthers gearing up to spend big on free-agent market - Sportsnet.ca everything that’s come out of Florida seems like the team and owner are very willing (and expecting) to spend a lot of money
Of course they are gonna sell it that way. The panthers are a losing team. They were dead in the sand and they came up with this Hail Mary attempt to sell and woo Bob/panarin. And they’ve used media channels to make themselves look like something other than what they are.

The Florida panthers man.

Come on this whole thing is a sell job with them. Tell me in what universe in the multiverse, the panthers and an extra 10million are a better fit and franchise, life choice than playing for the New York Rangers coming out of this never done before re-tool.

The rangers are stacked in the pipeline and their NhL roster are already trajecting upwards.

Panarin couldn’t find a better fit if there were 100 teams bidding for his services

I can’t believe how much the board buys into a lot of what they buy into. It’s amazing to me, how people are led by the media and talking heads and general perception

They’re building a new practice facility and they just hired one of the most expensive coaches in the league, they’re clearly willing to spend money regardless of how well their team or sales did last season

I can see Torts being a big fan of Kreider.

I'd expect a prospect, CLB's 2020 1st coming our way (top 10 protected), plus a conditional 2021 2nd if Kreider signs in Columbus.
Columbus isn’t going to be dealing for rentals this year. Think about how much they spent in rentals and how much they lost out on by holding AP/bob

They are only trading for guys they will have for awhile.

I don’t tgink this is a summer of 19 trade. But down the road, I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgiev ends up in CBJ as they #1 hopeful.

$11 million per contracts aren’t exactly easy to move, and more than likely include either taking back a bad contracts and/or retention.
I dunno. Assuming his production does not slow down significantly (and that is arguably a big if, I agree), I think the market will be there. Especially since not many notable UFAs are likely to be on the market in coming years. If it came down to it, Panarin for a 7th round to a team with cap space and on the treshold of making the playoffs (such as Carolina this year) is definitely realistic IMHO. And I believe the return could be even better.

Now, the NMC is another thing entirely...

No pick protection. No more conditions.

the alternative to that is just to take a lesser pick. if you'd rather just a 2nd rounder than a conditional 1st thats fine. but the other team isn't agreeing to an unconditional 1st otherwise we would have taken that

I’m not saying they aren’t willing to spend. They always have been. I’m saying they are still a floundering organization at the present moment. An open checkbook, new practice facility and getting Q to come coach for 6 mil a year doesn’t change that

I don't use the term often, but BALK at that price. 7x12 would be a marked overpayment for a player we don't know fits the needs this team will have in 2-3 years.

I'm surprised- typically in a year where the cap stays put the contracts given out are much more reasonable. It's not that 'Contracts are getting ridiculous' it's that the cap shifts and the new CBA limiting long and retirement contract has hurt teams abilities to manipulate cap hits in a more favorable direction.

But this offseason it looks like players are going to cash in even without a big cap raise.

I do wonder what the goals of ownership will be in the next CBA dispute. Non-guaranteed contracts? Cap hits that adjust based on player pay by year? Will be interesting to see.

The Panthers are right on the cusp of being a REALLY good team. You can think of them looking to sign Panarin as potentially having the same effect that Richards did on the 11-12 Rangers. Of course, the Rangers already had Lundqvist, thus the Bob push.

That being said, it's not like the Rangers don't have their own selling points to push.

They're going to pay Panarin and Bob $25-$30M every July? for the next few years?
