I think Chytil has looked good and has looked lost at center and has looked good and has looked lost at wing.

I think, based upon what @Edge stated earlier, Chytil may end up at center in the future, and it may happen if and when they're ready to move on from Zibanejad. I think they most likely want to add a high end center prospect, (hence their pursuit of Zegras), and down the line, if Chytil does become adept at center (which I have my doubts about), and they add another high end center prospect, then parting ways with Zibanejad could happen if his demands are too high when his contract is up.

Idk why you all think Panarin to Islanders is so impossible. Jynxing yourselves, i can assure you its a possibility and you better hope we dont need to deal with him 4 times a year

When was the last time the Islanders beat out anyone for a highly sought after UFA?

I mean unless Lou wants to get stupid and give him McDavid money, I can't see it happening.

I feel like our expectations for any reporter sharing news have become unfairly high.

Depending on the situation, they either get criticized for stating the obvious, not stating the obvious, getting lucky by hitting the nail on the head, or not hitting the nail on the head.

We crave any insight into what's being talked about, but then crucify them over every single detail. Then we wonder why reporters sometimes avoid delving into specifics and give vague reports.

And at the end of the day they have zero control over what teams are doing, what said teams are sharing, and/or whether it comes to fruition.

We want them to share what they hear, and then we resent them for it.

Well I’ve been saying it’s Rangers or Panthers and I’m sticking to it. And don’t believe for a second that we’re just going to be nonchalant about it. We always say that under Gorton. We won’t go nuts. Yeah ok. We’ll be right there with a high bid. When you offer 10 11 12 mil to a guy you’re all in. And they wouldn’t be in the conversation if they were just kicking tires

No way he goes to Colorado or the islanders. Doesn’t sound like Colorado got anything more than a courtesy phone call with the agent.

I do think its tough for the Isles to attract big name FA's. Lou is a smart fellow however. I wouldn't count him out.

Still think Florida is the destination for Panarin. No idea about Bobrovski?

You’re not listening to me! Feels like it’s been that way for like 15 years or so no? Lol

The older contracts on the team come off the books by the time those kids need their contracts and when the next wave of big time kids need their contracts that 11 mil contract is coming towards the end of its cycle as well. Need balance. Can’t all get 10 mil at one time. Think of it almost like a bank you can’t all withdraw your money at once.

I'm listening to you what you are saying just doesn't make any sense....those old contracts come off the books regardless, its completely irrelevant...

'can't all get 10 mil at one time'...the cap hit is the same every year. if all of those contracts are on the same team in the same year than they are 'all getting 10 mil at one time'. paranin will be signed thru 2025-26...so if you give kakko, kratsov etc big raises in 2022-23 then panarin is STILL on the team and the cap gets hit by ALL at the same time. the impact of all those contracts from 2022-2026 is the same during those years whether or not you sign panarin now or in 2022...

i'm not arguing if we can or can't afford him...YOU are saying that you can't have all those guys paid at the same time, but than are also arguing that we should sign them to overlapping contracts that put them all on the cap at the same time

You have to have big money contracts coming off the books when guys are getting paid big money off Their entry levels. You can’t just one day sign everyone to 10 mil deals that start and end around the exact same time. There has to be a balance of big contracts expiring and new ones starting. If panarin gets 10 mil now. In 7 years new kids not even here yet will be needing money as their entry levels expire. In 3 years kakko and those guys need big contracts well hank and Staal and smith expire.

If everyone signed at the same time there would be no balance to that system. So going after guys for 10 mil and 7 years the same time your top young guys are asking for 10 mil and 8 years makes it impossible to sign the next crop 2 or 3 years down the line for 10 mil.

I think Chytil is going to come in physically mature in September. Prentiss has done some great work with him, and I saw signs of it last year, but this off-season of training is going to help him.

The skating ability is already there, but him getting faster and stronger is going to help his game a ton. As far as him at center goes.... I think it would be force feeding the issue. 25% on faceoffs isn't going to get it done.

Him playing a power game on the wing would be maximizing his current skill set.

Pssh. I resent you a lot more for posting the Colbert popcorn gif. :D

I suspect the Rangers will be in on Panarin but not at all costs...if he wants top dollar then Florida or someone will give it. If he wants NYC while still getting paid a lot, then the Rangers have their chance.

Look at Hayes' FO% as his career progressed. He didn't come in as a teenager with little upper body strength, either.

He's now left two teams in cap hell.

he also apparently still does the shit like have rules about haircuts/facial hair of his players which is bullshit. Just completely ridiculous in this day and age

I liked the idea/musing from @bobbop the other day about the yotes quietly discussing Keller. IMO this is what we should be exploring. Deal from our wing depth to acquire an up and coming top 6 center.

It feels so forced to land a huge UFA at this point. Not even sure we have bottomed out, let alone have our peak in sight. We have a ton of young players that might address glaring needs in the next 1 or 2 years.

His most recent pic on instagram shows that you are correct. He is bigger, more filled out. There is a very similar picture on his account from about a year earlier. You can see the difference. I think he takes a good step this year. We will see if that step is at wing or center.

I'd be real interested in Keller but unsure why the Coyotes are looking to move him? Weird. Sure he had a down year last year compared to his first but he's only 20

Kreider and a small add for Keller? (considering Kreider's contract status, etc)
