So, 1) would Keller play center or wing, and 2) thoughts on what a deal for Keller might look like? Take back Stepan as a salary dump?

Probably wing would be my guess.

No clue on a Keller deal. I think most anyone not named Kakko, Kravtsov, Shesterkin or Miller would theoretically be on the table, as would a first.

Depending on what they forecast the RFAs signing at the Ranger could make Panarin @ $12 million work by moving out Vesey and Namesntikov’s money while buying out Shattenkirk. They would not have to rush in trading Kreider. They could wait.

Thats also with Trouba getting $8 aav.

The question is what does Buch, Lemmy, ADA get?

Buch @ $3.5
ADA @ $2.5
Lemmy @ $1.5

Those numbers would work.

The numbers for Buch, Tony and Lemieux are reasonable as far as I'm concerned. Buchnevich has one 40 point season and one 20 goal season. DeAngelo ended up averaging 19 minutes but he was also scratched 15 or 20 games and has some areas he needs to work on--particularly defending. If he's going to be a legit top 4 he'll need to add the penalty kill to his repertoire.

You're scraping by.

Kreider has to go. There isn't any sense in extending him and holding onto him just because would be horrible.

Shatty's buyout for 2020-21 is basically nothing in terms of savings. You won't be able to extend Kreider beyond next year.

Andersson and DeAngelo for Keller and Stepan, no retainage (there's your first).

I’d do a lot to get Keller

I get the sense the Rangers would as well.

They still absolutely love him.

Keller and Pettersson represent the "ones who got away" for the Rangers. There will always be a heightened sense of interest from this group when it comes to the careers of those two players, if for no other reason than because the Rangers will want to know if they were right in their evaluation.

I liked the idea/musing from @bobbop the other day about the yotes quietly discussing Keller. IMO this is what we should be exploring. Deal from our wing depth to acquire an up and coming top 6 center.

It feels so forced to land a huge UFA at this point. Not even sure we have bottomed out, let alone have our peak in sight. We have a ton of young players that might address glaring needs in the next 1 or 2 years.
Dutch, I never said anything about Keller being shopped. I did mention Christian Dvorak, who I believe to be available.

Does FLA even have the cap space to sign them both at this point.

Florida needs the goaltending more. Florida has a good offense with or without Panarin.

I think they could sign both players though but it would be really tight and would depend on Luongo retiring and them finding a home for James Reimer and maybe moving along Hoffman because they're going to have to break up a big enough contract to be able to fill out their roster. If they get Panarin they will have two great lines for sure but their 3rd/4th lines might suffer for it.

The numbers I had calculated us definitely had us scraping by to start the season. And that was with Smith as the 6/7 D rotating with Fox.

We had about $900K to start the season with what I put together. The cap room would increase as the season progresses.

And this is not so much with the intention to re-sign Kreider. I was thinking they move Kreider at the deadline because they didnt feel comfortable with the offers in the offseason.
