I bet you know where panarin is signing by the end of the night or by noon tomorrow.

(Maybe tonight/tomorrow, is a day too early. Maybe Friday night/Saturday morning)

Panthers
Rangers
Isles

None of the other teams have a chance. Any other team saying they do is just for the buzz with its fans.

And who cares. Breadman doesn’t Care if some Avs beat guy writes he’s got a visit with them. You notice panarin or his agent, they don’t even bother commenting on it. But it’s an easy way to further put yourself over with your fanbase just by alluding that you were in on him .

Personally, I think bob signs with the isles and panarin with the rangers.

That’s the feel I’m starting to get

In all seriousness though can one of the mods vet this guy and confirm if it’s legit or fake news?
I tend to believe the guys who come out of nowhere and post something that has a cut and dry vibe and they are just sharing it.

You never know who they are. Someone’s cousin or family. A girlfriend or bestfriends family. An agent’s family memeber.

So when some random cZech makes a proclamation like that ‘I ask myself, what reasons and gains doesnthis guy have to make it up.’

You say he has less than 100 follows. That tells me he’s not doing it for attention or business reasons.

Or he just lying to get a rise out of people.

Or frankly did he hear something from someone he knew, and he knows people are interested. So he tweeted it.

Who knows maybe panarin calls his 3rd cousin in the Czech bc he was feeling ‘chzeeky’ and wanted to vaguely put his decision out there for anyone paying attention

If the money is similar and I don’t mean just on tax breaks I mean just similar offers. 7 and 11 or 12 from both parties regardless of taxes there’s no way anyone chooses the Panthers over the Rangers. That just doesn’t happen. I’ve said that for a year and am sticking to it.

I agree 100%. Hopefully the Rangers put on a good presentation with him. I have a feeling we'll know where he's going sooner rather than later.

But I was told adamantly we wouldnt even have interest in him by one particular poster....
Luckily for them, I don’t remember 95% of the specific debates on here. I can’t remember whos said what exactly anymore.

I just grade it like this: so and so (insert poster name)

Totally gets it
Mostly gets it
Somewhat gets it
Getting there
Not there
Not getting there
Not worth my time

Oh I remember. That poster made it a point to talk down to every single poster that was on the side of signing Panarin. He knew exactly what the Rangers were going to do before the offseason even started.

We might not end up getting Panarin but we are absolutely interested.

Landed the #2 pick
Traded for Fox.
Hired JD
Traded for Trouba.

Remember last week when someone told me that they’re was zero evidence we Were interested in him? Lol
Some here speak in such absolutes and certainties that they forget what they are saying is just their opinion or own assumptions, and not even close to fact.

Again we may not get him, but here we are and he is visiting the Garden today.

Biggest disappointment this off-season is that none of Vesey, Names, Shatty, Smith or Staal have been traded (yet).

As you concluded "it's so hard to get something done" - absolutely...

With that said, no disappointment whatsoever (yet). It would only be a disappointment if the deal made was forced. It's not even July 1. As much as I want to jettison Vesey (and wouldn't mind punting a couple other names) it's all still to come.

My gut is that Vesey is definitely gone. Namestnikov is definitely staying. Shattenkirk and Staal both return. And Smith will be bought out. I'm thinking Fox begins in the A.

How are the Rangers paying Panarin $11M-$12M? Trouba is going to command about $8M per. Maybe it becomes more after Myers and Gardiner sign their new contracts. Trouba is one year away from group III. He has all of the leverage.

Trade Kreider? When is that happening? If the Rangers can't get a good deal for him this summer, trade him at the deadline. They didn't come close to any trades in Vancouver.

Buyout how many players? The players are buying out the player(s) they signed two years ago to sign another player this year. They never should signed both Shattenkirk and Smith.

Are the Rangers trading Buchnevich too? Carpiniello wrote Kreider and Buchnevich will be traded if they Panarin.

How much of a trade market is there for their other players?

The last thing the Rangers need is to add Panarin and then worry about moving out players in trades. The Rangers will get 20 cents on the dollar or may have to attach asset in that scenario. Teams will know the Rangers need to move money like Vegas and Toronto.

I think it was McKenzie's podcast from last week where he said there are like 30 bad contracts trying to be traded. Some of them are being offered for each other.

The Rangers will be forced to make so many moves to pay Panarin. All of these moves for the privilege of paying Panarin $77M-$84M with full NMC for the next 7 years.

Nobody is stopping the Rangers from meeting Panarin. The Yankees met with Manny.

I certainly don’t remember what was said but Gorton would basically be negligent if he didn’t at least reach out to Panarin’s camp to see if he was interested in the rangers, and if so, at what cost/term.

Vesey, Names and Strome should be shipped out way before Buch if we're shedding salary.

Buch and DeAngelo can be hardballed into 1-year deals at a low AAV.

Do not compare this to the Yankees. The process is also different.

There would not be a meeting during this period if there wasnt some level of serious interest.

I also imagine they have a pulse on the trade market and what their options are as corresponding moves.

My guess:

Trade Vesey
Trade Namestnikov
Buyout Shatty

Sorry if this has been hashed out already , but what does a Smith buyout look like?

All of Shatty, Staal and Smith have the higher 2nd year cap hit on the buyout, but Smith's is the lowest of the 3, as well as the lowest in years 3 and 4. The differences in years 3 and 4 are negligible, though. 1.2 for Staal and 1.433 for Shatty, so not even a 300k difference between them.

The 2nd year cap hit is offset by the savings we get from Girardi (cap hit drops by 2.5 mil), Spooner (900k retained off the books) and Beleskey (825k buried off the books).

If Panarin signs with Florida, he does not pay state income tax for the 41 home games.

So you could argue it's, at best 8.82% of half the base salary he would "save" in tax. 8.82% is the state income tax for NY. He would "save" $523,200. He however pays a much higher tax for every game in Canada. Florida plays 10 games in Canada this season. If he signs with the Rangers, it's only 7. Not really going into that much detail but it changes it a bit.

If the Rangers front-load the contract with 16.4m in the first 2 years and a 12m signing bonus, he gets 45m over the first 24 months. I am sure Florida can't match that much up front.

* I did not include the games in Tampa, Dallas, Nashville and Vegas since the Rangers play those as well.

I wouldn't buy too much into the photo of Panarin on the MSG scoreboard. He probably visited or is about to visit MSG, and they wanted to welcome him.

It also pisses me off that he's a LH shot in that photoshopped render.

boomer briefly mentioned panarin this morning and much to my surprise he wants nothing to do with giving him 7 years, $77 mil...said learn from the past. would do 5 years. I don't disagree but I would have bet that boomer would be a 'give him whatever he wants' guy

Boomer is a smart man and a true Rangers fan - wants whatever is best for the team.

I don't know what Florida is capable of in terms of signing bonuses, but let's say his first year salary in Florida is 9 mil in signing bonus and 1 mil in base salary. The signing bonus is paid as soon as he signs the contract and is taxed in Florida. It would only be the 1 mil that would be subject to 41 games played outside of Florida.

That said, the Rangers could potentially do the same thing. Panarin maintains a residence in Florida. If the Rangers gave him a signing bonus, would it be taxed in NY or Florida? That I'm not sure of.
