Kreider + someone like Andersson/Buch + something B-tier for Draisaitl + something small?

Terrifies me that some posters think were getting: Marner, Nylander, or a top-5 pick.

Wake up people.

He’s a winger. Similar to Kakko he can probably play both flanks effectively.

Kakko played LW as much as C + RW last year, BTW........
Buch can’t play LW, and he’s a LHS.

Without a doubt with a center like McDavid or even eichel. Buch is both a playmaker and a sniper. He can do it, you put him with an elite guy who can get him the puck in scoring positions and he’s gonna bury his share and on the same token if he got elite linemates who can make something of the plays buch can make to them, his assists will go up expotnetially bc of the scoring %s of these elite guys
Didn't Tomas Sandstrom score 40 as a Ranger virtually by himself then fail to capitalize on easy goals riding shotgun to both Gretzky and Lemiuex? There is always a risk factor even if a trade looks amazing on paper. Some people regard him as an all tools no tool box kind of player. Buch could b playing him out of that zone, but are we really sure? If we get 8 and some of the centers are dropping, let the Oilers figure it out.

So, here is the rundown.

By now we’ve discussed or I’ve given enough hints to deduce:

The Rangers have had conversations with Buffalo and Edmonton involving Buch. Those talks have also included Names and Vesey, JP and Nylander. Nothing new to report tonight. The ball is with Edmonton and Buffalo.

The Rangers have talked to Toronto. It’s not Marner or Kadri. Nylander and Kapaned were mentioned. Nothing imminent.

As has long been suggested, the Coyotes and Avs have shown an interest in and engaged in talks about Kreider. The Avs have been more aggressive today. We’ll see how/if Arizona responds.

No one still wants Shatty as of 10:30 tonight. Par for the course.

The Rangers still would love to get in range of players they like in the draft. We’ve outlined combine interviews and guys they like, even if the board isn’t head over heels for some of those names.

We’ve talked about Vesey being viewed in a similar fashion to Pionk by some teams.

Speaking of Pionk, we talked about him on a recent pod. Talked about his departure being a matter of if and not when. Talked about him having higher value than the board realized. Now we’re talking about him being one of two components in a trade for Trouba.

Speaking of Trouba, we talked about the Rangers not chasing the price into the stratosphere. They obviously did not.

So, am I missing anything short of social security numbers and home addresses?

Can't thank you enough for all this. I've been on the edge of my seat the past 2 days and jump with excitement every time my phone goes off hoping its Rangers news.

I was so confused what has been going on the past few pages with a bunch of people fighting nothing, so i checked the thread on incognito mode and realized what was going on. If the Devils pick Kakko it might, like, never come back

Hughes is the consensus #1 despite both players reportedly being rated so tightly. However, this board is so invested in Kakko at this point we’d have a collective meltdown on the 1% chance NJ took him. It’d be comical. Most boards would say we hit a grand slam and folks here would be devastated.

I’m guessing it’s one or the other, but I’d honestly take a Buch deal at 7 or 8 AND a Kreider deal at 14 or 16 depending on my scouting reports. I would be fine with a Buch trade now and rolling the dice on a 2020 1st for Kreider. I just don’t want to get locked into that Kreider contract.

Definitely something that has been implied as a debate point.

While the Rangers don’t seem interested in decimating their experience level on the wings, they are certainly very aware of how much different contract combinations add up to.

If Kreider doesn’t go tomorrow I’d still be surprised to see an extension in the near future. I think they gauge value mid season or mayyybe visit an extension mid season.... To be honest, I just don’t see the re-up. Rangers have been burned a lot by guys in that age range. When they’ve had the Dubinsky's, Callahan’s, Brassard, even Stepan (totally diff player I know), they’ve been better off moving away earlier. Am I totally off? I just don’t see Gorton giving Kreider the 6+ years it’ll probably take...

I mean on paper it seems pretty simple when you lay it out like that, but in practice that's a lot of moving parts. Sure you can bring in some cheap veterans on shorter contracts, but I don't think a MoJo or Connolly would sign for less than 4 years. Gusev is a really talented player but has no NHL experience.

True, but in a hypothetical amazing 6/21 where this team can grab two A prospects then I think you make those deals and address those needs afterwards. Buch and Kreider leave for value and goodbye Vesey. I’d like to keep Strome, Names, and Fast but I can’t say I’d lose a Zegras or Broberg if one of those guys were the deal breaker. I’d rather pick off another teams short term cap dump at that point.

This drives me bonkers.

Man the more I see him holy **** I REALLY want Zegras now.

If the Rangers target a guy like this then I’d have zero problem getting a 7 or 8 pick and 14 or 16 pick and packaging them to get THEIR guy at 3-5. If they think a guy like that is a 90 point 1C then make the deal if it’s there. If you’re grabbing that caliber player then I’ll live with the overpay. No one will complain if they find the next Giroux, Bergeron, or Getzlaf.
