yeah, REALLY one is now NHLer the other is not. We didn't even give Graves a chance.

I don't care about your breaking point with me.
Dude, we’re about to draft a franchise player tomorrow, we just stole a first pair D who is just entering his prime by trading basically our worst defenseman and that team’s own pick back to them, they’ve been going about the rebuild the right way and acquired tons of young prospects and assets and moved on from aging players and you’re whining about not qualifying Brandon Halverson and Freddy Claesson and the Chris Bigras trade, what is basically an AHL deal.

And I hate to break it to you, but not all prospects are going to make it. Halverson not becoming and NHLer isn’t an indictment on anything, some guys down make it. He was a late second rounder and he didn’t pan out. If every prospect made the NHL, there’d have to be 100 teams in the league.

It’s like overlooking all the good to focus on minor bad things. It’s crazy.

I think there’s more value and risk there than we give full credit to. Explained my thoughts just before your post.
I'd only do it if we were 'high' on Zegras or Cozens. Fairly confident their game will translate; as top6 centers.

Edge = Miss Cleo

I try to break thinks down into one of several categories:

1. What I can confirm from what I’ve heard.

2. What I can’t confirm (yet), but can speak to in general terms.

3. What I can’t confirm, but think is likely or not.

4. My opinion/speculation.

5. The things I have no information on, or can’t answer.

Or just got enough to be pretty dangerous riding shotgun to McDavid. You can argue that with his natural ability, he could remain an enigma and almost stumble his way to a string of 25-30 goal, 70 point seasons.
That's definitely true. It's a win-win scenario then, assuming we'd land a top6 center.

IMO It's a position of strength. Kakko, Kravtsov and Chytil looking good as top6 wingers. Potentially Panarin? Where would Buch fit in this future?

It could be. I think these boards will favor draft picks because it’s easier to wish-cast with them. But I don’t think either team would be off from having enough value in the deal to at least consider it - which to my understand is being done.

Without a doubt with a center like McDavid or even eichel. Buch is both a playmaker and a sniper. He can do it, you put him with an elite guy who can get him the puck in scoring positions and he’s gonna bury his share and on the same token if he got elite linemates who can make something of the plays buch can make to them, his assists will go up expotnetially bc of the scoring %s of these elite guys

Calgary would remind him of Sweden, much colder than NY, and he might win a Cup there. And he must realize that most NY fans want him and his cap space gone from this rebuild.
Most Rangers fans definitely don’t want Lundqvist gone and the rebuild has been going great with him here. His cap hit hasn’t been an issue and he’s earned the right to stay a Ranger if that’s what he wants.

So from what i understand, this cap stupidity can lead to us having to wait until after the draft to trade Kreider and Vesey? Therefore not picking up another 1st rounder? @Edge

It could be a factor. I know it’s frustrating a lot of people.

Between this and playoff officiating, I don’t think there is much happiness in the league offices these days.

I'm not sure if this is all of the beer I had tonight talking, but here's my take on the current situation:

The fact that @Edge is talking about names and locations and potential returns indicates to me that those deals are dead for now. I know when he hears something that may be imminent that he plays things close to the chest. Why so open with the information now? Don't think it's happening personally. Something built around Buchnevich and the 8th overall seemed to be a little too good to be true for me.

I do see Kreider being dealt tomorrow to the highest bidder. I think Gorton will take a 2020 1st rounder if Arizona or Colorado don't pony up.

If I learned anything about Gorton the last couple of years, it's to expect the unexpected. Brooks had the Rangers in on Trouba but was way off on the price. Almost no one had the Rangers taking Kravtsov last year.

Makes me think something wild like Draisaiti being the target from Edmonton comes true instead of them going for the 8th overall pick.

I'm drunks, don't mind my rambling.

Buchnevich is way better than his stats/production so far. Sometimes he disappears (usually when he is demoted to 4th line) . Really enjoy watching him play though. Can't say the same about Vesey. If we do trade him, I do get it, it does make sense for several reasons. But it will kind of suck. They better get a hell of a return for him.

It's remarkable how "easy" that shit should be to fix but get too much push and pull any which way and suddenly it's all messed up.

Edge literally said he'd give more details today because most of the details were out there in the mainstream hockey media now, not because the deals were dead

With 7 and 8 being targets, I’m curious about the additional piece we are considering moving. There’s gotta be an interesting unexpected name or asset not being discussed if either of those picks are in play.

I wouldn’t call anything dead until a team works it’s way to the stage. This is a really crazy time that has a number or different elements impacting it.

But we’re talking now because a lot of the names and teams are mostly out there.

Roger, thank you for the insight and input. You and the other vetted guys here make this time of year enjoyably unproductive for the rest of us.
