I'd still keep Kreider. I know he's one of the "balls in the air" but I'd keep him for a reasonable price.

What's a reasonable price and will Kreider accept it? That's the question. If he wants to sign 4 x 6.5, I'm game.

Bolded ones seem a little lopsided in our favor in my opinion.
Could be. Depends on how the teams value the NHL players. I feel like on HF people always overvalue picks and prospects vis-a-vis established NHL players, especially cheap, talented NHL players like Buch.

And Puljujarvi's value is shot. His agent came out today saying he's playing in Europe if not traded.

But as I say, I could certainly be off. I have been many times before.

There's nothing like a good pizza discussion to harmonize the board. Well maybe landing the second pick in the draft. Whenever I go back to NYC, I eat pizza for every meal and it always includes a visit to Joe's (the one in LA isn't bad either). Ok, back to hoping for a trade....

To clarify, Joe's in LA is not affiliated with Joe's in NYC. The one in LA likes people to believe they are without actually advertising it, but they don't go out of their way to dispel it either. I think there's been a lawsuit at some point, but I could be misinformed.

I got a place for you guys, great place that hasn't been blown up yet - Ciccio's on Avenue U !

And on the next block, anyone here a fan of Joe's of Avenue U?? Amazing Sicillian place, - Panelle special, rice ball special, and their artichokes are unbelievable, been going there since I was a kid, you'll thank me later.....

If they're going to make additions like Trouba and who knows who else, I'd keep Kreider. If they still want to add draft picks and think of this as 2-3 years away, then trade him. If you think you're 1-2 years, and can get him on reasonable terms, keep him. Having veterans and continuity can be good.
I think Trouba was more of a “the value and opportunity is too good to pass up” type move compared to a “we’re trying to be good now” move.

I think Buch being the main asset for the 8th pick isnt enough for Edmonton unless we are adding something a lot better than Names and Lindgren, regardless of Pulj's value. Or they are going to try and dump Lucic with it.

Vesey for 1 more year definitely isn't worth the 31st pick straight up, especially for a team like Buffalo.

Kreider at less than 7 is a bargain and would be a great player to keep long term. Late start in the NHL (6seasons), first line production, high character/leadership, clutch scorer, and among a minuscule group of wingers (Stone, Saad) that tilt the ice and make every player on their line better. Has there been a dominant line for the Rangers in the last six years w/o Kreider on it?

But I understand he's gone. Personally think he's worth much more as a player than as trade bait for a first round pick, but whatever.

It depends what that first rounder is. 16th? Probably not worth it.

14th? Might be worth it, if Newhook is there on the clock. If you are getting a future #1 center, you have to take that deal I think.

And frankly if I could get two centers out of this, I would not only trade Kreider, but I'd also move Buch/Vesey/Names/Mid tier prospect/future pick. Sign Panarin, roll out top lines of Panarin-Zib-Kakko and Chytil-Strome-Kravtsov or something. Sign some low end veterans to one year deals to fill out the roster till the rest of the kids are ready. I'm not sweating missing Vesey and Namestnikov this year, if we have sacrificed them to have two top 6 centers in the pipeline. Say, Newhook and Krebs.

What's reasonable though? He going to easily get 6.5M for 6-7 years on the open market, mabye upwards to 7+ if he has a big contract year.

I've made it known that I don't want him long term after this year. He's just doesn't do it for me. Brooks nailed it when he called him out for being extremely inconsistent. I wouldn't even mind the scoring inconsistently because A LOT of players are streaky, but I can't deal with him just going invisible for stretches and forgetting how to be physical. I don't think that's the right message to give to the young kids we have coming. He doesn't play at 100% all season and I don't think that is a sign of a good leader.

If anyone (not you personally) needs all that crap on their pizza, they've never had good pizza before. I'm so rigid on this, that I feel like with certain wines, Italy should come up with some law designating what can actually be called pizza. Seafood on dough is not pizza, Chicken on dough is not pizza, Korean BBQ on dough is not pizza.

This rant is not directed at you, so please don't take offense. I'm Italian from Queens & I obviously take my pizza way too seriously.

This is why I say these things need to be kept in separate categories. My default when I hear "pizza" is NY style... there are just different spins.

But these conversations are always fun... other versions include "is a hot dog a sandwich?" "is soup food or drink?" "is cereal technically soup?"

I love the passion but the clam pie at Frank Pepe is not to be missed.

Absolute bucket list for Pizzaphiles.

To your point, straight up cheese either with hard mozz or soft...done right, is where I begin at any joint I try.

A hot dog is a sandwich and if you think otherwise you're just wrong.

Could be. But, it still fundamentally changes the composition of your team. I don't think you make the move if you think it's going to be three years before you're competing. Could be wrong. Either way my point stands, if you think you're competing in the next couple years and Kreider's ask is reasonable, I'm doing it.

Could be a leak, but there has been too much smoke for there not be fire here.

True, but it seems like there's been fire with him since before he even got here. He was part of every proposal since BC and then at every deadline and offseason. Crazy he's only been here for 6 years. If they trade him, they trade him. I think it's a mistake unless he's asking for some insane amount of money. You don't replace guys like that easily. He's one of the few forwards that are tough to play against. I guess Kakko could be that guy but you need more than one.

Last week Brooks was the worst writer on the planet according the HF. Today what he says is gospel. Who knows. Not even sure the Rangers or Kreider's camp didn't leak this to Brooks to put pressure on the other side.

No he wasn't. Most of us know he does a good job. Only a handful cry about everything he says but the criers are the loudest.

Yeah, I'd even go to $7 on 4. And I'd go to 5 if the price comes down. No idea if it's realistic. Just saying--on a deal like that I'd rather keep him.

After what Kane got last season, and Hayes a few days ago.. I can't see CK taking less than 7X7.

Zero chance he takes a 4-5 year contract. This is his pay day, he will get paid.

I've been to Pepe's...wanted to love it, but was a little underwhelmed. Couldn't put my finger on it, but there was just something missing. That was the traditional brick oven style...didn't try the clam pizza.

When I was in New Haven last, both Sally's and Modern were closed. I'll hit them both up next time.

Brooks gets necessary hate when he starts pitching his ideas.

When he sticks to what he hears though, he is most definitely someone that clearly has sources and his feedback is appreciated.

The Rangers have gotta be pushing hard to trade Kreider because of the draft, but if they can't get it done, it's worth remembering that, at worst, there's the deadline in 2020 where we'll likely be able to get a similar deal to Hayes for him. Also, deals happen in the summer (Brass for Zib, for example)

I think he definitely gets $7+ as a UFA. As I discussed with GAG, if he'd take less to stay here, something like 6-6.5 over 4, that's an easy re-sign for me.

He is inconsistent. He always has been and he always will be. He has always struck me as a weird guy. I don't think it's a simple lack of effort. Just something else between the ears. Either way, all your veterans don't have to be leaders. Our "kids" aren't stupid, they understand there are all kinds of people in the world and in the NHL, some who bust their ass and some who float, etc. Hopefully we can find some other veteran leadership to help out. I don't think Kreider precludes that from happening.
