Kreider is way too inconsistent, don't want him signed long term after this season, give me another 1st round this year or next please.

This is a picture of the most authentic Neopolitan pizza in NYC, in my opinion.. please tell me how it is in any way remotely similar to Sicilian?

I’ve never heard that called neopolitan. Looks like what I generally see called brick oven.

Having never heard of it, I saw the post before saying it’s Sicilian and believed it.

If Kreider is gone and we miss out on Panarin, we need a solid plan at LW. We really have no natural top 6 LWs, including prospects, through the whole organization. That side becomes even more bleak with a Names or Vesey trade. I’m curious to see moves to fill that side since there isn’t much left on the FA agent market. Maybe Ferland?

If we aren’t getting Panarin, my preference is to re-sign Kreider.

Every one of Kravtsov, Kakko and Buch are left-handed. They don't all need to play RW.

Neapolitan and Sicilian definitely are not the same. Not even close.

How is this even a discussion?

I could remotely see a discussion comparing Sicilian to Chicago style or that Chicago style morphed from Sicilian because of all the Sicilians who migrated there...but even that's pushing it.

Neopolitan is light.

Sicilian much more dense.

I reserve all the corners for myself in this discussion.

Ya Kreider being traded was inevitable for me going back to the trade deadline. It was just a matter of when and what for. We’ll likely find out those aspects soon. I can’t imagine him being here much longer.

That's what happens when u overpay Matthews on a 5 year deal and marner outscored him last year and shown that he can play 82 games a year. Matthews contract was horrendous from a leafs POV. Got mcdavid money without giving the leafs the 3 extra UFA years.
You have no choice with these top young players, they know it now, they decide what and how long. These kids weren’t threatening an offersheet, it’s part of their playbook now

Will be sad if / when Kreider goes for sure. For all their flaws the 2012-16 group will live large in my heart for a while. Crazy that it’s basically all gone.
Only players left from the 2015 finals team are Hank, Staal, Kreids, and Fast (who was a rookie and didn't play much). In 2 years they'll most likely be all gone.

I understand all of this. But you're completely ignoring the risk factor that turning down 33 million dollars over 3 years brings with it. There is always a potential for injury, an early decline, etc. It's not as simple as saying, well, in 5 years he'll get a bigger contract. There are other moving parts.

I worked in asset management for years and some I worked with had a theory which I really came to believe in, once you've won the game, it's about protecting the win. Marner has won the financial game. His family will be set for generations because of what he did at the ages of 20 & 21. There is no reason for him to take on risk anymore. In fact, just the opposite.

There is also just as good of a chance that he will still be producing at 30, as he won't be at 27. If that's the case, he'll have made 88 million dollars, with the chance to secure another 4-6 year deal at 30.

One could argue that he is at the perfect time to take that risk. This is a player not in his prime yet. The number of points he puts up is staggering.

He's already getting endorsement money. He's in commercials with Matthews. He has eyes on him at all times being the type of player he is and the city he plays in. That's a double-edged sword, but for now it's tilting in his favor considerably.

His next deal, even leaving 3 years off it, will likely net him $50M. Kevin Hayes just signed for that same figure over 8 years in the current cap situation. Unless we're talking a career altering injury, he'll make up that extra amount of money on the next deal. Where he cannot take risk is his next contract. Get to that point at 27 and not 30. We see what happens to guys at 30 in this league and they are up for a new deal.

Every year or two it gets closed for massive health code violations.

And every year or two I still don't care.

Meh - I can tell you from working in NYC bars when I was in my 20's, that the NYC department of health is incredibly corrupt. I once worked in a place that got massive fines for... get ready for it... the bathroom doors not closing completely flush with the doorjambs. I'm sure that was a massive public health hazard. :help:
