i would rest him anyway, let him go into the playoffs 100% and it'll free up cap space for another defenseman

Arizona acquired another bad contract to reach the floor.

Arizona is the blackhole for any revenue. Bettman refuses to move the franchise. The Coyotes will play in the college building for another 3/4 years.

I am not saying anything else about Bettman because i don't want to be banned.

I gotchu RB

f*** Bettman

Building a Cup winner takes a good investment of time, doesn't it?
And in the Rangers case, here we are. Now we spend for minor equity upgrades because this is why we are here.

I don't see what the problem with spending two 1sts when the teams average age is so young.

So when the rest of the league cheats, it is fine. When the Rangers try to cheat, it's off limits. Got it.

That means they'll be down a man when they play Boston too. National TV game, and the announcers will have to say why the Rangers can't dress a full lineup, but will be able to explain why the Bruins added 2 more pieces after today by putting Hall and Foligno on LTIR.

Fingers crossed that former Bruins legend Ryan Lindgren is back by then, but yeah Bettman really cutting his nose to spite his face here. Sadly he'll still get his numbers though as the Rangers fanbase carries his market once again.

Had he not blown out his knee, I doubt anyone would be "agreeing" with him.
Blais' entire tenure here is hypothetical. If you haven't given it an L at this point, you never will. Even the Blues wouldn't invest in him for more than one season, and at a rate less than what he made this season. Guy is a skating question mark.

I mean ultimately I'm kinda whatever about the callup thing, but it illustrates the stupid relationship with the cap that the league has. You can have a shitty team skirt the cap floor by taking on LTIR contracts of players who will never play again but won't retire but the team doesn't have to pay out the contracts because insurance and you can have other teams LTIR players for however long in order to have them come back healthy for the playoffs, but if you're cap crunched and clear space for a trade you're not allowed to callup a sub $1mill player from the AHL for an emergency callup because "well you could have just not made the trade!"
The league would rather the Rangers have just lied and LTIR'd Lindgren until the playoffs and it's very clear they view the LTIR trickery as an acceptable part of the salary cap.

Well, I do.

I don't think it improves the team and it's chances enough to offset the expenditure. We've been around and around on this though so no need to do it again. I'll do it for a second round pick all day, or I'll give up a first or firsts if it's a young, dynamic, long term core piece (FWIW I was all about trading for a player like Eichel).

Logan Stanley has reportedly requested a trade. Is he the guy people on this board talked about acquiring? Or was that Samberg? I'm getting my Jets defensemen mixed up.

Drury went this far in, there’s no reason not to get an actual 7th dman tomorrow in exchange for Harpur and a late draft pick.

He’s not going to use Jones or Robertson in a playoff game, Hajek is just as bad as Harpur.

They played Nemeth for 4 playoff games last year, and they lost 3 of them, with him having 8 penalty minutes.

That’s with the Rangers defense staying relatively healthy, outside of Lindgren missing a few playoff games.

Braun, TVR, Logan Stanley. Beaulieau has been mentioned by some of our insiders, although I'm not a fan. Maybe get creative and call up Armstrong and work our something for Bortuzzo. All the guys mentioned have >1M cap hits we can fit with Harpoon being waived and a little salary cap fairy dust. 24 hours Pizza Man

I knew this would happen and we wouldn't get the proper support like we should have. The NHL is mad about the Rangers not debuting Kane on TNT for their ratings.

Also, I feel sometimes the NHL cuddles all the teams that are useless and the money drivers, like the Rangers, Leafs, Habs, Bruins, have to fend for themselves. It really is wild. It's the only league not actively pumping its biggest markets. The NBA does it so much it is basically fixed and their ratings are huge. Haha
The NHL has always done things based on lowest common denominator; bring everyone down to the same low level, not bring everyone else up. They can't get out of its own way; nor do they want to; they think everything is great and the fans/media who disagree with them are idiots. The people running the league for most of its history, including Bettman, is the reason why they will never grow beyond what it is, a regional/niche sport with a loyal but small fan base (compared to the 3 other major pro sports leagues). Their idea of marketing is telling people when the game starts. Very small minded and extremely short sighted.

They are their own worst enemy; unfortunately, they are too stupid to see it.

I'd LTIR Lindgren right now if I'm the Rangers, regardless of the severity of the injury, call someone up, and also trade for another D. Clearly Lindgren isn't day-to-day.

Priority #1 should be his health come playoffs. He went through that high ankle sprain all last playoffs. We don't need him dealing with a nagging should/collarbone issue.
If he's only expected to miss 1 or 2 more games, we are better off just waiting. I'd rather play 2 games short than have Hajek or whoever for the next 9 games.
By my calculation, the Rangers will have enough cap space to call up a defenseman for Saturday.
How do you figure?

We're literally saving less than $200 a day.

Re Blais, some people are not compatible with big cities like NYC. Hell, after living in NYC for 12 years, I left and don’t miss living there. The assumption that everyone should want and feel privileged to work and live in NYC is flat out wrong, regardless of the white carpet the organization rolls out for its players.
