I've never in my life seen the vicious arms race that's going on in the East right now. Every team except Carolina is dramatically improving and paying an utter f***ton for it.
I'm of the opinion that among the East, NYR have gotten the most bang for their buck. Boston is absolutely BONED after this year... We kept the lion's share of our valuable assets.

Yeah but they were going to be even if they didn't do anything.

If there was ever an empty the tank year for anyone, this is it for them.

NHL going out of its way to screw the Rangers. As usual

I knew this would happen and we wouldn't get the proper support like we should have. The NHL is mad about the Rangers not debuting Kane on TNT for their ratings.

Also, I feel sometimes the NHL cuddles all the teams that are useless and the money drivers, like the Rangers, Leafs, Habs, Bruins, have to fend for themselves. It really is wild. It's the only league not actively pumping its biggest markets. The NBA does it so much it is basically fixed and their ratings are huge. Haha

They always turn a blind eye to Arizona trading for LTIRetired contracts and using their cap hits to reach the floor instead of actually making their team better.

You know whose deal is going to look like a steal like yesterday even. Adam Fox.

Guys are going to start making 11 plus like pasta just got.

Even Mika’s deal already looks like a steal when u see Horvat and Larkin making 8.7 mil

Would be awesome to lock in Miller, Laf, Kakko and Chytil on sweetheart deals and then watch the cap explode.

It's BS bc there's nothing in the CBA that would indicate this being the case. So the NHL is just arbitrarily deciding something here.

Arizona makes a mockery of the league and that's cool but the Rangers, your biggest market highest profile team, goes out and acquires superstars and you punish them for it.

Arizona traded Chychrun for relative peanuts because they didn't want to retain or take money back. They keep trading for players long since retired due to injury just to hit the salary cap floor, they're playing in a college arena. They are a joke of a franchise and a stain on the league but the NHL has no problem with their shenanigans.

"Best sport - worst league" unfortunately remains true as long as Goblin Bettman is still at the helm.

Wonder what the rationale is on this?

Kind of sucks that other teams are weaponizing LTIR and every other rule in the book while NYR are playing 16 skaters and paying 3rd round picks for 25% retention.
My guess is that because Kane could have played last night, and Miller is suspended rather than injured, we didn't meet the requirements for the emergency call up. In other words, we weren't under 18 skaters due to injury.

... and we paid two first rounders for the privilege of this reality.
Correctly so. Look at La for what can happen with tons of picks, draft all the centers in the world, and only one of them worked out in a meaningful way and he plays left wing.

What a waste of sucking for five years. What a waste of time.

They're gonna lose a couple for free too next year because of waivers and they aren't good enough to stick.

Too early to call it a waste of time.

Coyotes took a shit return on Chychrun to not retain salary, then 12 hours later traded for yet another LTIR contract in Voracek. How is that allowed but the Rangers cant call up a player on an emergency basis? Speechless.

It's been 5 or 6 years. Your life is the sum of your experiences. Could get hit by a bus tomorrow.

I know we wasted half a decade, but for a brief, shining moment in time, we had a very highly rated prospects ranking on Hockeys Future. -- Nobody

It does make sense because Kane could have played last night. Oh well. Back to back with a short lineup here we go...
Right but we were still short a dman without space to call up.
(ii) Emergency conditions shall be established when the playing strength of the Loaning Club, by reason of incapacitating injury or illness or by League suspension to its Players is reduced below the level of two (2) goalkeepers, six (6) defensemen and twelve (12) forwards. Proof of the existence of the emergency conditions including the incapacity shall be furnished to the Commissioner of the League upon request made by him.
Letter of the law it should be allowed imo
