A kid coming up to play center in the middle of the season would be a disaster. Kasper did ok and I don't think Ammo or Danielson are at the level Kasper was at the start of the season. Ammo I question as a center long term anyhow.
The only forward I feel is sort of ready is probably Mazur but he's a bit tricky as he's just getting back from injury. I do feel like he could be a good Kasper replacement on that 1st line as he'd bring a lot of those same forechecking/ board play dynamics.

Of course , but if Lombardi for example start dominate AHL, just like Elmer did I like to see him come up as bottom six.
What I don't want to see is trade for another average player, they need to get top four defansman

Ouch. As i said earlier, bring up Mazur. Put Kasper in the middle and Mazur in the 1st. After all, center is the position where we want Kasper.

Kasper is rookie too, i don't see Mazur having much issues there. His game is built for that role.

Veleno and Ras being complete busts as centers just exacerbates the loss of Copp. They both need a sports psychologist.
I would be down for this. Wish we just signed him last summer like I originally wanted...
Why not just run something like:
Kasper-Larkin-Raymond
Cat-Compher-Kane
Soderblom-Veleno-Danielson
Berggren-Somebody-Tarasenko
Or, honestly, trade Tarasenko back to Florida and be done with it.

Hes still making 8 and for what another 4 years?? That would scare me off . They'd have to eat 2 mill and we wouldnt have to send a 1st or anything major
Probably against it cause of the term and all he kids who'd be coming up in what years 3 and 4 of his deal? Then what we buy him out when we need spots for lombardi/nygaard/buchelnikov/kiiskinen etc...
Maybe if the Wings can unload Tarasenko... but Stamkos has a NMC. I wonder if he'd want to relocate again so soon.

If a trade doesn't materialize for a C, put me on board for giving Danielson a real shot. Keep Compher at 2 C and let Nate take one of the bottom six lines.
His game defensively and taking draws is strong, even if he doesn't produce a lot of points, I feel he can at least do a lot of the same things Copp does.
Hope Yzerman is considering it.

Um I think after the husso deal yzerman will no doubt do something. Tarasenko I'd be done with regardless

Danielson should be left to cook in the AHL imo. I wouldn't be opposed to a cup of coffee but I think his development is best served in the AHL for now.

Yeah - I would agree it's a long shot to land Stamkos, but with his history with Yzerman (all good for what I am aware of), Nashville doing poorly (some are pointing fingers at Stamkos), and 3 more years of $8 large - I could see the Preds considering offers for him.
That said - it would be nice if they ate $2 million of that cap hit and accepted both Tarasenko, and Holl in return, but the cost might be some draft picks/prospects...

I don't want to pay a huge price for Stamkos but also wouldnt want to have him at 8 per , I wonder if Nashville would be just content at this point to free up cap space ??
If the preds ate 1 million and then we'd get say the hawks involved to eat 1-1.25 for a 3rd might be something to think about if it's possible??
Preds get a 3rd and retain 1 mill and save 7 mill next season and hawks retain 1.25 for a 3rd and we land stamkos at 5.75 for 2 3rds
Doubt it's that easy but I might be inclined to do that lol

Lombardi can stay in GR, Mazur definitely needs a call up. He's the most NHL ready, we just need to find out if his body is strong enough now to handle the duty
Doubt that Danielson gets a call up. Yzerman wants to keep GRG young core in tact especially since Soderblom has solidified himself in Detroit
All in all, soon I feel like Yzerman trades for a guy like Scott Laughton (3.0M, UFA 2026) as a "stop gap" down the middle. Otherwise, we may see Larkin - Compher - Veleno - Dries down the middle for the duration of the season. I don't think a bigger 'C' fish will be in play for us during the deadline as that's not Stevie's M.O to make a "risky" play. Maybe he surprises us
