Who cares about how it looks for them? It's been reported many times that a 1st isn't part of the deal.
Because the GM's may have to deal with each other again and these guys all care about how they are perceived. It would just look bad for Chicago not to get that and may have been a stipulation in negotiations. We will see. It has also been reported that no 2023 1st will not be included. Nothing has been reported about 2024.

The 4th line of Motte-Goodrow-Vesey should be, when playing well, a PIA line to play against. Same goes for the kid line due to their size, reach and ability to control the puck. I will be honest, I wouldn't HATE having a player or two who could both play and consistently doll out punishment along the boards. I was hopeful Blais would be that guy but so it goes. I wouldn't trade the skill the team has for a Maroon or Reaves.

They are too small to be instigating that type of game, if they wanna play that way they'll get their ass handed to them. They'd be smart to just use their speed.
They certainly will use their speed and finish their checks at every chance and during the course of that a guy like Fox is pretty vulnerable ...as much as Hughes is.....I'm not sure why a few make a big deal out of that thought LOL...it is every bit as likely to happen as a Hughes hit by Trouba . BTW....When did Wood get small ? Devils will focus on the physical play at Fox at every opp....that will be the gameplan .

More of a next year proposition but Othmann and Cuylle will be lineup regulars in all likelihood and this is a big part of their game

Very true....we likely are also one hit away from disaster striking us. There will undoubtedly be an equal amount of running at Adam Fox/Shesty/Panarin and likely not always clean hits ....likely some late high ones at every chance.....one good hit by Devils Wood or McLeod would be worth giving up one PP opp if it means Fox/Shesty gets hurt ......they by far are much easier targets then Hughes in all reality . Make no mistake about it...that will be the early Devil game plan .

You do realize that one of Jack Hughes' biggest faults is his tendency to put himself into vulnerable positions right?

These are all from just last season alone.

This is more than Fox has been smoked in his career. Panarin too. If Milano and Whitecloud were bigger he may still be out (especially the latter.)

If you want to get into running a goalie, we have the guy who everyone thinks is the biggest catalyst in the history of the league at it.

Anyone can throw a late hit.

Dude I enjoy most of what you post here but please, just stop this nonsense.

I'm sure there's issues that I'm missing, and it does benefit teams with deeper pockets a lot more; but if the cap is mainly (only) about ensuring a 50/50 split of HRR, could you not set the upper and lower limits during the off-season like they do now, make everyone be under the cap for Day 1 and then allow unlimited trading throughout the season as long as you don't end up under the cap floor?

That way that total player payment is met and if teams want to load up big for a run they are going to be penalised by spending for those assets and then spending again to get rid of them before the next Day 1.
Or make it a softer cap with a sliding scale luxury tax and a cap discount for players you bring up through your own system.

I'll waive a towel if it's a flat second and no Robertson or Jones.

Anyone lower is fine, even if it's someone like Brett Berard who I like.

Kane only wanting to come here really helped us out. Took away any leverage Chicago had. Happy we are able to keep that 1st round pick, and will have added Kane and Tarsenko. To me the risk is well worth it. How Kane performs is a whole new story in itself. Lol.

And if Kane then re-signs here for cheap, that's money.

Assuming he plays well enough that we want him back.

Gah I'd like to get Tarasenko too (again, assuming he plays well enough down the stretch to warrant it).

Panarin Zibanejad Kane
Kreider Trocheck Tarasenko
Laf Chytil Kakko
Vesey Rydahl Cuylle

Othmann can start in the minors. We move Goodrow to get the space for Kane/Tarasenko.

That's what NMCs do. NMCs are gonna kills us eventually too.

Fox is as vulnerable as Hughes.....think what you want . Myles Wood is not going to miss getting a piece of him at every chance . Considering how many times Fox will be playing the puck....almost at every 2nd shift....he likely is actually a larger target than Hughes when you think about it . How do you stop NYR.....drop Fox /Shesty .

LMAO.....you can call it nonsense if you want....but only because you can't say for a certainty it won't happen . Post all the PAST videos you want....it does not mean a thing in a series that has not been played yet .

Yep. If Kane didn't force his way here, our TDL this year would've been Tarasenko + Mikkola + Motte + 1 more minor piece. Instead it's Tarasenko + Mikkola + Motte + Kane.

Going out and getting a different big piece not named Patrick Kane was never going to be an option.

There was a thread in the mains suggesting the league should not allow NMC/NTCs, it’s not going to happen. Players want that job security and to control their own destiny Like what Kane is doing. It’s just another speed bump you have to deal with. Fortunately in this situation it’s actually helping us, a player having a Full NMC. Can’t stand that organization, and glad he is handcuffing them. If they land Bedard, going to be beyond pissed. Lol.

Dang stop letting them live in your head, that kind of fear isn’t healthy

Its not that we can or can't absorb an injury to a top player any better or worse than any other team. It is just recongnizing that the Devils are a young and fast hockey team. They are going to be excited to be in the playoffs for the first time and are goiing to likely use that speed to get in on the D and finish some check. Likely to show everyone they are "playing playoff hockey". Its also not about fighting or anything.

I am glad you are all not afraid of the Devils, you shouldn't be afraid of any team, cause you don't play. However, the Rangers should be prepared. Again, all that was being pointed out is that the fans should not underestimate the East in general and the Devils in particular cause everyone in this conference is good. Its going to be a long road to the Finals no matter who gets there.
