Its not that we can or can't absorb an injury to a top player any better or worse than any other team. It is just recongnizing that the Devils are a young and fast hockey team. They are going to be excited to be in the playoffs for the first time and are goiing to likely use that speed to get in on the D and finish some check. Likely to show everyone they are "playing playoff hockey". Its also not about fighting or anything.

I am glad you are all not afraid of the Devils, you shouldn't be afraid of any team, cause you don't play. However, the Rangers should be prepared. Again, all that was being pointed out is that the fans should not underestimate the East in general and the Devils in particular cause everyone in this conference is good. Its going to be a long road to the Finals no matter who gets there.
All teams need to be respected. The Devils are a very good team but I think people are saying so are we. I'm sure the Rangers will be more than prepared because that series isn't going to be easy for either team.

Yeah, I never understood all the talk about EK to EDM. They need shut down d and G badly.

May be an unpopular opinion but I’d be going to the Preds and just asking them what they want for both Ekholm and Saros. Would be expensive as hell but it’s better than not doing anything.McDavid and Drai need some damn help

Perhaps not, but if Mikkola were to be amicable to a 2-3 year deal for say $1.2-1.3m I'd re-sign him. I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessity but defensive depth is important and he has fit in well here. That would take him to another UFA contract at 28 or 29 when the cap increases as well.
If he would sign that I’d trade lindgren. Honestly. I think mikkola is a better player than lindgren with mins. I think next to Fox you’d never notice u lost lindgren. Think he’s extremely overrated.

Rangers defense and overall team defense has been lacking for a bit now.....plus we also have 20 games to go .....anything, injuries/suspensions can happen in that stretch and IMO.....we are quite thin on the D . I think we should have aded another Dman instead of Tarasenko . But what do I know.....LOL....I suppose I could point to past failures as so many in here like to reference the past in their rebuttals . Anyhow.....I think our defense is fine if we are healthy and all but still a bit thin when it comes to depth and that we should have focused on it instead of Tarasenko . Time will tell whether I was right or wrong . There won't be many 7-1 games in the playoffs .
In our big win streak we absolutely shut down everything.
We showed what a strong team looks like.
We play that way in the playoffs, I like our chances.

Looking forward, this lineup fits for next year:

Signings:
Chytil - 4 years @ $4.5m
Lafreniere - 2 years @ $2.6m
Miller - 7 years @ $4.75m
Motte - 2 years @ $1.1
Mikkola - 2 years @ $1.25m
Erne - 2 years @ $0.950m
Kane - 3 years @ $5m

Panarin-Trochek-Vesey/Erne
Kreider-Zibanejad-Kane
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kaako
Motte-Brodzinski-Erne/Vesey

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Mikkola-Schneider

Igor
Domingue

~$500k in cap space

So if they go shorter with Miller to get his cap hit down, there would be more space for A spare.

This also assumes the cap goes up $2m.

Goodrow trade to San Jose for a 3rd + 4th + 5th

You do realize that one of Jack Hughes' biggest faults is his tendency to put himself into vulnerable positions right?

These are all from just last season alone.

This is more than Fox has been smoked in his career. Panarin too. If Milano and Whitecloud were bigger he may still be out (especially the latter.)

If you want to get into running a goalie, we have the guy who everyone thinks is the biggest catalyst in the history of the league at it.

Anyone can throw a late hit.

Dude I enjoy most of what you post here but please, just stop this nonsense.

FWIW, after the Wahlstrom hit, he's been a lot better with flailing his body around. He seems a lot more composed as a skater and less chaotic. Haven't seen him take a bad hit this year but who knows what happens in a game to game basis and come playoffs

No. Lindgren is a glue guy on this team making only 3 mil. The D just doesn't play well in general when he is injured.

Morgan covers the Coyotes. His feeling is teams are trading all of these assets for McCabe/Lafferty and Orlov/Hathaway when they can have a top 4 D signed for the next two seasons at a good number.

I saw him get popped pretty hard the first time you played Florida this year. The Wahlstrom hit wasn't really even overly malicious, he just threw himself into danger there trying to avoid it and really hurt himself.

Lindros went long stretches with out really getting hit either. These are really, really hard habits to break.

we're all hoping he'd play with Kreider and Zib but he'll likely start with Panarin and Trochek

That's what I was thinking his fit would be too since you have an elite finisher on both lines plus you can get away with their defensive issues you could run into with those two centers being pretty defensive responsible.

Morgan has access to the Yotes front office because he's literally parroting what Armstrong wants released verbatim. He could put that tweet in quotes & credited Armstrong. He might as well be on their payroll.

I'll be honest, part of my desire to sign Mikkola is that I fear Lindgren's next contract a bit. Having a veteran like Mikkola on the left side, even on a 2-3 year deal, would be nice insurance in case a decision on Lindgren needs to be made once this contract is up and he is a RFA. His style of play and propensity for injuries is also leading to my thoughts...

Right, I'm not disagreeing with you entirely. Just saying he seems more aware of his surroundings? If that's even the right way to word it. I think he himself knows that getting hurt is going to impair NJD's chances of doing anything and he can't just take useless shots. I expect the Rangers to play him tight in our future playoff series if meet but I highly doubt he's just gonna have his head out like he would've in prior years. Nico getting lambasted would scare me more since he's a less cerebral player than Jack. Trouba almost got Nico this year too.

Like I always ask, do you want the "should be" lineup or Gallant's lineup?

The Gallant lineup is probably him with Goodrow and Motte while Vesey is with Trocheck and Panarin so I was going for the should be one, lol. FWIW, Vesey has been tremendous for you guys. Pretty pissed we chose Miles Wood over him here in NJ last summer.
