Just a thought. If Kekalainen overplayed his hand for Gavrikov (Boston and Toronto have both moved on), I wonder if that would be a better pickup than Kane. Gav's full cap hit is roughly the same as Kane at 25%.

Lazerus seems extremely butt hurt about Kane not (allegedly) bringing a hual back to the Hawks.

I've heard him on numerous podcasts over the past few months as the Blackhawks guy always brought on to discuss the Kane situation and he ALWAYS said the return would be good and most likely 1st rounder plus a top prospect and maybe more. Just a couple weeks ago he was talking about 1st+Othmann at minimum from the Rangers. Idk why he seems so annoyed, does he think a small return is an insult to Kane? Makes the Hawks look bad? He's a reporter not a fan so I don't get some of the ways he's covering this (like referring to the return as the Rangers dismissively throwing something on the ground).

Yep, I couldn't care less.


I still think it's going to be more than the implication, the Chicago writers are just setting up their fans to try and let them down easy because they (rightfully) expect a haul for their franchise icon.

I could see a 2024 2nd that turns into a 1st based on some playoffs stuff, Robertson level prospect, possibly an additional mid-round pick or another prospect.

Trading any first for him is a disaster full stop.

With all the crazy cap crap going on, it's kind if amazing to think (even with the covid, flat-cap constraints) that the Rangers entered a season at almost the max cap, with a roster that was short two top-6 forwards, as well as various depth pieces...

This is NOT a hill I want to die on, but it seems like a big reason why a lot of people on these boards want Kane (aside from the discounted price) is "OMFG! We can't have Vesey in the top 6!", except Vesey has been good in the top 6.

SOMEONE has to go into the corners and retrieve pucks. Kane ain't getting his OD's dirty and Tarasenko is willing but he's also slower than a jar of molasses at the north pole. I honestly don't see how Kane fixes any of the issues on this team unless the plan is to outscore our mistakes.

He had 90+ points last year and they replaced his best linemate with Max Domi and now people claim he cant play anymore. Id gladly give up the 31-32 overall pick for a shot at the Cup with this squad
