Roster Building Thread IV (2022-23): Luck of the Irish

They are both going for it. Most of the assets going the other way in both instances aren't until 2025 and 2026. They figure they have 2 more years to win a cup and then the window closes.

How so?

No one from the roster has been rumored in the deal. It will likely deepen the team, pretty significantly.

Or are you referring to who needs to go down/stay down/stay on the bench? Yeah. Its getting silly.

It’s going to take some short term cap manipulation before (and potentially after) the trade to make the numbers all work. But yeah, once playoff time we’re going to be very deep.

This whole process has been ridiculous. We all know the trade will happen; can we just get this frigging trade done and over with so we can all move on?

I know there's cap issues and that involved, but the whole thing has gotten insane. The process could've been avoided by teams handling their cap better, but it is what it is. I just want this to be over and done with.

Sorry if this has been answered but any reason why Carpenter hasn't been sent down? Is it a waivers reason or do they have to keep a certain amount of forwards/players on the roster.
 
Miller getting suspended doesn’t change the cap situation. Rangers can still dress 18 skaters without having to call up an extra skater thanks to one-armed Lindgren. They just won’t have any healthy scratches Wednesday and they’ll have at least one guy on the bench who can’t take a shift due to injury or risk of injury.

Man, watching that game last night and I'm like Lias Andersson still can't crack this forward group even on the 3rd line?

Man, I swung and missed at that pick that's for sure.
 
The Kane deal is not gonna be as cheap as we think. We'd love for it to be Paju, Jones, and a 3rd, but there will likely be a piece that stings a little. Sykora. a 2nd, a 2025 1st. Media / Chicago GM's mouthpieces are just lowering expectations so that it seems like 'a win' when they get anything more than Jones and a 4th.

Lazerus seems extremely butt hurt about Kane not (allegedly) bringing a hual back to the Hawks.

I've heard him on numerous podcasts over the past few months as the Blackhawks guy always brought on to discuss the Kane situation and he ALWAYS said the return would be good and most likely 1st rounder plus a top prospect and maybe more. Just a couple weeks ago he was talking about 1st+Othmann at minimum from the Rangers. Idk why he seems so annoyed, does he think a small return is an insult to Kane? Makes the Hawks look bad? He's a reporter not a fan so I don't get some of the ways he's covering this (like referring to the return as the Rangers dismissively throwing something on the ground).

It was going to be the day until a random frog in south america queefed to due north, which requires the rangers to now wait until thursday and play their entire roster in goalie equipment thursday night against the Sens.

Kane has to wear a canadian tuxedo at all times for the next 6 months as well, otherwise the Rangers go over the cap(this part should be obvious).

Wouldn't the issue here be that we wouldn't have enough cap space to recall Schneider for Wednesday's game?

If we complete the trade Wednesday we have enough to recall him I think?

Idk this cap stuff is so annoying, then capfriendly comes out and says this which flies in the face of the extensive coverage puckpedia has done on the different possibilities.

I wish it could happen today, I just want him officially on the roster so we can get going.
