What the NYR are doing isn't cheating, they're literally putting themselves at a disadvantage in order to open up space.

I wouldn't call Tampa's shenanigans cheating either. They utilized a loop hole that exists. If you're in a position where you need to do what they did, it would be foolish not to exploit it.
Thats basically what I meant.

I just like that they're going for it. 4 games doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

If you consider his overall resume you can argue that Kane is probably the best player we'll have acquired (if it goes through) since Gretzky. Like with Gretzky we're getting him at the tail end of his career so at best he'll help us for maybe 2-3 years if we can somehow fit him under the cap.

We're definitely going to be the biggest boom or bust team in the playoffs this season. I could see us winning it all and at the same time losing in the first round. What a weird time to be a Rangers fan...

Jagr my man. Jaromir Jagr.

Kane is more in Pavel Bure territory.

To be fair, 2 of the top 6 best teams (im begrudgingly including Carolina) in the league are guaranteed to be 1 and done this year. NHL stays losing with the Cap & playoff format.

Saw a rumor that it would be Jones, Laba, and a second that turns into a first if Kane doesn’t beat up any taxi drivers.

What about smashing a stick over Gallant's head as Gallant is opening the door to a taxi?

Tampa showed that you need to cheat in the cap game to win, so I'm glad we're doing it too.

If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying

If the Rangers could find a way to add anyone other than Kane, it needs to be a defenseman. As it is, I would be scouring the AHL for a veteran who could fill in as needed in the playoffs at worst case. Someone like a Bartkowski from years past.

NHL needs to re-think implementation of the salary cap for the next CBA.

A soft cap with revenue sharing might actually be the best thing for the weaker franchises in the league.

Parity isn't great right now and it seems like it's becoming harder and harder for franchises in small markets who have been rebuilding lately (Arizona, Buffalo, Ottawa) to get any traction.

*Ottawa only a small market because 80% of Ontario residents are already TML fans

Abolish it altogether

Speaking as a Rangers fan for 60+ years...it's always a weird time to be a Ranger fan!

There is a guy, that played here already, has playoff experience and is in the AHL right now for a team that would probably take anything for him.

It might be time to bring Michael Del Zotto back to NY.

You mean Stanley Cup winner Michael del Zotto.

Kane means we're going all in for a cup, so we're going to be furloughing kid development for a tick.

Incidentally, I still cannot believe Mika doesn't have a broken ankle. I was sure he'd be out until the 2nd round.

Lentils FTW
