Is there any word at what we are actually trading to CHI?

Barstool Chicago gut who is pretty plugged in said no 1st, Othmann or even Zac Jones going to Chicago. Hinted that it might just be a draft pick. Mark Lazerus who is a long time beat writer for the Hawks was also saying fans should brace themselves to be underwhelmed.

Anyone else find it both fascinating and absurdly stupid all the roster and cap maneuvering and gamesmanship to fit Kane, which didn't even happen yet. As a self hating bona fide I would get a huge kick out of the trade falling through at this point. The team had an important player stapled on the bench last night to get around this mess.

The cap implementation is dumb.

would be nice if the big boys in the top 6 can find chemistry and leave the kid line alone. They are the one line that seems to generate on the forecheck and in the playoffs like we saw last year in the spring.

In a world where we didn't have Mika or Bread or Igor, we would have instead watched a trad rebuild where the kids get 1st line minutes and come out of it in 4 years as the best line in hockey (in a perfect world). Not totally hating on what we have instead (and what we got last year), but the alternative would have been fun for diehards.

A deadline hasn't made me hate the cap as much as this one. Most valuable team in the league reduced to counting pennies for a big exciting move.

It all goes back to the league being a joke. No one benefits from teams having to do these cap gymnastics.

I tend to buy jerseys blank now, but my most recent named jersey I got , which was about 2 or 3 years ago, was Fox. I also own a Mika away, Kreider home, and the Fox one I mentioned. On top of a couple of Cally jerseys and a Lundqvist one. So I’m content for now, lol
I’m always happier with a blank jersey these days

Panarin - Kane will be a nightmare defensively.

You either give them another bad defensive player or a strong 2way Center and hope that covers a lot.

Trocheck doesn't make sense to me because he needs to the puck to carry up. That's his strength. That's Panarin and KAne's strength too. Put Trocheck with people who have a tough time getting through the neutral zone. Laffy and Tank make sense IMO

Kreider Zibs Kakko
Panarin Chytil Kane
Laffy Trocheck Tank

or you can keep the lineup as is and just put Kane with Kreider Zibs... That makes the most sense to me

Knowing Gallant he will try a number of combos before the playoffs start. I also don't see the Panarin-Kane pair being a nightmare defensively because they were the best line in the league when they were together.

The cap sucks but the Rangers could have been banking more space in the event something like this were to go down

It’s not like the rules changed or something. As mentioned, this trade better f***ing happen now

If not Drury looks like a clown

That was in 2015-2017

and they were still bad with chances allowed, or at least Kane was.

Panarin needs to go back to the 2way player he can be.

It doesn't bother me in the least. I like the cap. It's good for the health of the league.

The Rangers as an organization have been better post-cap than pre-cap. It saves us from many of our worst impulses.

I get that people don't want to have to deal with the cap manipulations, but no matter what systems they put in place, teams will find a way to game them. And the only reason we are even going through this is because we are getting Kane at a huge discount. He wasn't part of the plan until recently.

On the one hand I get wanted to try Panarin and Kane together because they were so electric together in Chicago. And it’s probably a big part of the reason why Kane forced his way here.

But on the other side it’s also not 2016 any more. Both players have lost some jump since then. I agree I expect major defensive deficiencies with that pair. Wasn’t the whole part of moving on from Strome because NYR recognized that Panarin playing 20 min a night that wide open isn’t a recipe for winning a Cup? Not sure why they would go back to that, even if they are going to ultimately give it a try in the regular season.

If shit hit the fan (which it almost did between Miller and Mika blocking that shot) you need someone healthy to play. If Carpenter had to play a few shifts because the bench was short its a better alternative than forcing an already banged up Lindy into that position.

They would have just played a forward at defense. They're looking at the big picture and if they had to roll 3D and something one game they would have done so. Not worth the risk of injury.

This is crazy lol Panarin is the only reason I even want Kane. They’re definitely playing together

Tampa showed that you need to cheat in the cap game to win, so I'm glad we're doing it too.

What the NYR are doing isn't cheating, they're literally putting themselves at a disadvantage in order to open up space.

I wouldn't call Tampa's shenanigans cheating either. They utilized a loop hole that exists. If you're in a position where you need to do what they did, it would be foolish not to exploit it.

I'm truly amazed that there are some Rangers fans who are freaking out about what we have to do to get Kane. I wonder if it's just people who can't handle something that's not usual, or are overrating how important 2 games are a this point.

Should the move be and is it possible to LTIR Lindy to give him time to rehab even though he could come back sooner and therefore:

- Cease the Kane cap gymnastics which I think is a big contributor to our poor play
- Pick up cheap depth, a 4C as 13F and a 3LD to hold the fort.

This didn't work when we got Hodge to play with Espo's (always wondered why they didn't get Cashman too), so I have very little faith in the Kane/Tarasenko Experiment.
