You can also still be building, without an emphasis on winning RIGHT NOW and make acquisitions that help in both the short and long-term.

It's called transition... and it doesn't happen by turning on one mode and turning off another. As I've said, you clearly haven't wrapped your mind around it.
Never said they couldn't transition. My concern is that they're spending money on things they don't need because they can. We've seen Dolan ruin about six rebuilds doing that with his other team.

Names, Strome, Kreider, McKegg, and Belesky is about 13M. Plus Girardi's cap penalty drops about 2.5M. The following season, Shatty's cap penalty drops about 4.5M.

You whined about not signing Brassard, now you're whining about wasting our money on middling players.

Dude... It sounds like you're *****ing just to *****.

I question your ability to evaluate hockey talent after a foolish statement like this. Seriously.
You evidently can't differentiate between a middling player and a cheap player.

Man, you're back to being all salty and disgruntled and full of negative hyperbole. I really enjoyed the brief period of time where you didn't wake up just to piss in everyone's cereal.
Because the Rangers were smart for like a calendar year and I enjoyed it too.

Then they got the checkbook out the first time a piece of meat was waved in front of them. It's same old Rangers.

You realize that Hank, Staal, and Smith all drop off the books in 2 years and will probably be replaced by ELCs, right? And Namestinikov and Strome are gone at the end of this year? And the cap is likely going up a couple mil with the new TV deal in a couple years?

It's not nearly as dire as you make it out to be.

Agree

The Rangers aren’t in dire cap shape yet, and I was slammed for saying this before, the Rangers could quickly be in the shape Toronto is in.

Might have to commit to a small nucleus and smartly navigate and rotate the surrounding pieces. It’s not a video game where you can accumulate a ton of youth and hold onto all of it for a decade although we wish it were :)

Same old Rangers would have given up more for Trouba and Fox. They would have matched the $$$ the Islanders were offering Panarin. They would have committed long term to Hayes. And Zucc.

Then they would have done something stupid like sign Brassard to a 2 year deal.

Not the same old Rangers. And again, this is coming from someone who wanted nothing to do with Panarin.

As far as the team is concerned, this cap space problem for us isnt a problem at all, contracts will come off the books, cap will rise. Kakko and kravdtov are team controlled and i assume next cba will do something about amazing rfas wanting 11 m per. We are in a great spot. Plus for solace, at least we arent ottawa ‍♂️

Signing Brassard would have been the old Rangers? When have the Rangers ever explored cheap depth?

You don't think DeAngelo can become a 50 point player who's ok defensively? That's an insane take?

You just said called a coveted and established top-pairing defenseman overrated and said that a journeyman is going to wind up better than him. You don't see the irony?

Its perfectly possible, but do u think hes an all situations defenseman who can lock down someone like say crosby? Deangelos skill lies in transtion and offense and he is valuable. But hes not proven, thats the difference. You know what youre getting in trouba and its a damn good package

Staal, Smith, and Hank coming off the books doesn't even give Kakko, Kravtsov, and Zibanejad new contacts in 2022, let alone doing anything else.

Would think Zibanejad would want a long term deal so I doubt they would resign him.

That's two of them. Salaries are through the roof.

I think its optimistic assuming both Kakko and Kravtsov are going to be $10 mil players at the end of their deals. And that's $20mil on top of the cap increases.

Keep in mind Strome and Namestnikov both fall off after this season and should be replaced for cheaper hits, saving maybe $4mil total.

Trouba is absolutely not that.

There's a dire misunderstanding on this board of what Jacob Trouba is.
